Are you really a Lincoln Chafee fan? Now there's a moderate for you. Michael Savage calls them "check pants Republicans" --- but I think he means "plaid pants" Republicans: the kind of pants you see on old geezers at the country club golf course.
What strikes me most is that it isn't the people of the "Christian Right" en masse that seem to want to throw stones at Laura Bush. I don't see the new Pope denouncing her jokes. I don't see the catholic priests rising up. I don't see the Grahams making waves. I don't see Robertson or Falwell or Dobson out there condeming her to hell. I don't think my minister is going to have a sermon Sunday on what a disgrace our First Lady is. I don't see the American people lighting up the White House experiencing palpitations because the First Lady said her husband didn't know the difference between a male and a female cow. There was absolutely nothing dirty about that joke, except in the minds of those that wished dirt. It didn't even occur to me until I read it from people on this site!
So who exactly IS condeming Laura? The very Fringe of the Right pretending to be something they are not? Liberals in disguise? I wager it is both.
