My fellow FREEPers,

I know it's been a while. Well i forgot to duck. By the time most of you see this I will be on my way to Germany for treatment. The war for me is done. My men continue to do the job. This last rash of bombings and attacks are being under reported and I don't know why. Al Queada is getting desparate. I don't know when I'm will RTS. But I do imagine that it will be soon. God I love wireless. LOL! Please keep praying for us.

I've, um, 'interacted' with those guys (spec ops).

They are highly skittish about photographs--remember how many photos we saw of them in Afghanistan and Iraq covering their faces? Hmmmm?

I am trying to respect your perspective as a (former, current?) military officer (or someone who knows one?) -- but your repeated attempts to trash the reputation of a FRiend of mine are getting old.
After Captain Mike has recovered from his injuries sufficiently to address your charges PERSONALLY, we can resolve this matter more fully.
Until then, perhaps you can explain how your "interactions" with super secret "James Bond"-type Special Operations officers who never appear on camera unmasked differ from THESE guys, from www.soc.mil/News/releases:

U.S. Special Forces Soldiers and their Republic of Korea counterparts communicate with incoming U.S. Air Force A-10s during a Joint Close Air Support exercise at a range in South Korea Mar. 2. Soldiers of the U.S. Army Special Forces Detachment-Korea ROK special forces troops trained on ground-to-air communication techniques in both the classroom and in the field.  (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Daniel Love, 8th Army Public Affairs
..or are these (publicly unmasked) U.S. Special Forces soldiers "fakes," too?

You might be right that he is a fake. I doubt it, and I certainly hope you are wrong, but your vulgarity trumps all. You MUST be right.

BTW, if he turns out to be genuine, you gonna take it back?

Why you getting so mad?

El Gato says he couldn't locate him on AKO. Would a SOCOM officer be listed in AKO?

There's been a lot of car and suicide bombings lately -and associated casualties so I tread lightly on this subject.

I consider the 'front line' to be the MSRs, guardposts, Anbar provence, parts of Baghdad and SOC operations. If he's 'on the front line' he's certainly not going to be going to a local's house for dinner. Unless they live in the IZ it's CBS. Heck, the IZ ain't even safe, the Australian was grabbed from a construction site. The word is the Ghurkas just stood by while they hauled him off.

I think you'd agree that no one in Iraq talks about being on the front line since those really don't exist.

Why you getting so mad?

I'm offended that someone would cover themselves with false glory at the expense of the reputation of the silent warriors who's names we'll never know.

Names and ranks of Special Operations officers like THESE, also from www.soc.mil:

RELEASE NUMBER: 050428-01
DATE POSTED: APRIL 29, 2005

Three Army SOF teams score well in annual Best Ranger Competition

By Kim Laudano
75th Ranger Regiment Public Affairs Office

FORT BENNING, Ga. (USASOC News Service, April 29, 2005) — After 60 grueling hours and 26 military tests, only 11 of 23 teams remained and three of them competed under U.S. Army Special Operations Command's banners last weekend in the 2005 Best Ranger Competition here.

The USASOC teams finished third, seventh and eleventh.  Respectively, they were Master Sgt. James A. Moran and Sgt. 1st Class Walter J. Zajkowsk of Headquarters USASOC, Sgt. Neal B. Jacobson and Sgt. Jason C. Noffsker from the 75th Ranger Regiment and 1st Lt. Christopher Hallows and 1st Lt. Nicholas Clark also representing the Rangers.

While the Moran-Zajkowsk team took an early lead in the three-day competition which began April 22, they were unable to sustain the momentum and eventually gave way to Capt Corbett F. McCallum and Sgt. 1st Class Gerald Nelson, 4th Ranger Training Battalion who won the competition...

HQ Guys from Bragg--not operational. 75th Ranger Rgt aren't spec ops though they occasionally assist on security for spec op missions. They don't really let the guys on the operational teams take off to go play in the Best Ranger Competition.

Nice try, please play again.

LOTS of "unmasked" Special Forces faces are publicly posted online HERE, from ,a href="">:
A Soldier from the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Carson, Colo., congratulates one of  his top squads for completing a full day of manuvers without error on Oct. 23, 2002.  In the third phase of the Georgia Train and Equip Program the Georgian Army will learn airmobile operations, basic and advanced rifle marksmanship, and tactical movement.  (Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Edward D. Holzapfel) Click for high-resolution photo
A Soldier from the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C., prepares to make a high-altitude, low-opening parachute jump on Oct. 25, 2002, during a deployment to South America for Cabanas 2002, an annual  multinational training exercise designed to increase joint military cooperation in the Americas.  (U.S. Army photo) Click for high-resolution photo...

OK, notice that the photos are pretty indistinct--PA wouldn't release them otherwise.

Notice that no names and ranks are included.

You are only making my point.

HQ Guys from Bragg...
The photographs of Captain Pierce which were posted on FR were taken in HOLLYWOOD, and REDONDO BEACH. :o)
I know that we are in "enemy territory" (in the CULTURE War) out here on the Left Coast...
...but since when did those venues become more secure areas than Fort Bragg?

OK, if you really believe this faker is a gen-u-wine SF Officer returning from an operational unit in Iraq, then it is your duty to get this thread pulled.

It reveals his name, rank, photo, that he was injured in a bombing on/about 1 May and the fact that a 1LT Marc Owen works for him. All nice info for terrorist types to know-- information that puts the other members of his team there in danger.

Can you understand how sensitive that kind of information is on operational teams in Iraq?

Loose lips sink ships, y'know....

I leave it to your conscience.

Huh?

Compare THAT picture (above) with THIS one, from one of the "Captain Mike" threads posted on FR:

I will confess to my ignorance of Special Operations protocol...
...and I will admit to aggressively promoting the name, rank and image of Captain Pierce on this forum -- with neither his specific permission, nor his endorsement.
I FReep, therefore I am.
(I have also aggressively promoted Ann Coulter, Hugh Hewitt, Ted Hayes, and many OTHERS in a similar manner on this forum.)
How is what I have done in this case more sinister (or potentially mission-threatening) that the media circus which accompanied the (Special Operations?) rescue of Jessica Lynch?
