Vanity - Quote from Jennifer Wilbanks Runaway Bride case
NBC Today Show - Katie Couric

Posted on 05/02/2005 7:21:06 AM PDT by SpinnerWebb

I was listening to the talking head of Katie Couric's this morning, and she was interviewing Gwinnett County District Attorney Daniel Porter. I wasn't paying too close attention, but I heard her ask something about getting Miss Wilbanks some psychiatric help... and I heard is response as "You cannot help someone until you get them under the control of the courts."

Don't you need guns and little old lady Marshalls to really get someone under control of the COURTS in Georgia?

You are an absolute victim of a Lazamataz gone insane.

(!Swoon!) Be gentle. It's my first time as a member of the "victim" class.

Brings a tear to the eye, doesn't it?

Well, it brings a vomit to the curb, anyways.

Better yet, since towing a 41' boat can run into hundreds of dollars depending on the weather and distance towed, join Boat US to get free towing insurance.

In the interests of full disclosure, I have no financial relationship with Boat US :)

I don't think the boys faked their need for help.

As I walk along,
I wonder what went wrong,
With our love, a love that was so strong.
And as I still walk on,
I think of the things we've done
Together, a-while our hearts were young.

I'm a-walkin' in the rain,
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain,
Wishin' you were here by me,
To end this misery
And I wonder--
I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder,
Why,

Why, why, why, why, why she ran away,
Yes, and I wonder,
A-where she will stay-ay,
My little runaway,
Run, run, run, run, runaway.

"I don't think the boys faked their need for help."

Doesn't change the fact that they did something many (not me, based on what I have heard) think is stupid and the staate had to spend money to find them.

BTW, I am being very T-I-C. Getting bad when you gotta 'splain that.

That response is the only one in this whole thread that makes sense. So... what he was saying is not that the courts should jump in and seize power, but that only through the judicial system could that power possibly be obtained. Thanks. Finally cleared up.

Don't know but I just heard John Mason speaking to Sean Hannity on air right now.

John Mason said everybody wants to "crucify" Jennifer. I love how the english language is exaggerated and over blown when blame needs to be shifted to excuse bad behavior. Nobody wants to crucify the Grand Baroque Princess they just want her family to stop being in denial about her mental state and reimburse tax payer costs wasted on her false alarm. Seems pretty fair and simple to me.
Then John Mason said everybody like Jennifer deserves a second chance. Well no kiddin Sherlock. Jennifer got eight bridal showers(sarcasm) and gets a second chance.
See how wonderful life is for her.

Gawd Sean is shamelessly playing Devils advocate towards callers expressing disgust.

The Jennifer enablers(act like commie liberals) keep calling it "judgemental" when it isn't. It's called COMMON SENSE! Taking responsibility for ones bad or wrong behavior, decisions instead of displacing it onto others is the right thing to do. If it is your mistake TAKE OWNERSHIP OF IT!
Nobody wants to punish her or put her behind bars. Just reimburse the tax payers. Dang, her family can well affford to do it.

Well, we all know Sean is not always cooking with gas.

I'm thinking he's going a little Rita Crosby on this one, what with that exclusive interview and all.

Think of all the stress Bill Clinton was under when he lied about that unfortunate series of encounters with that intern. Maybe we should have just given him a pass, Sean.
