All this woman did was walk out her house, buy a bus ticket, and ride to Vegas. That is not illegal, even in this modern age. The fact that the groom, the cops, and the entire TV news apparatus freaked out is not her fault.

She did not leave any cryptic notes or fake any evidence. She just slipped out the back, Jack. Made a new plan, Stan. No need to be coy, Roy... Just listen to me...

She hopped on the bus, Gus. No need to discuss much. Just dropped off the key, Lee, and set herself free...

I have no doubt we'll NOW begin to hear of her long history of mental illness.

I'm surprised the Prozac crowd or the devil possession people haven't shown up yet.

"Have you all ever been a bride? The pressure it intense and ridiculous. I say cut her some slack."

Well this one time in band camp....

Excellent post - so true!

For every person who becomes an object of intense media coverage, there are dozens more who go missing and little is said about them. WSFA found seven cases here in Alabama that have slipped below the radar. We call them missing and possibly forgotten.

The Jennifer Wilbanks case is the latest in which national media have focused on one missing person. Others just like her, Chandra Levy, Lacy Petersen, Lori Hacking all part of our 21st century psyche. But what about those who are also missing and seemingly forgotten?

There are seven people from Central Alabama who went missing recently just like Jennifer Wilbanks.

Fourteen year old Jessica Jean Linderman went missing three weeks ago from Trussville. She's 14, five-two and 140 pounds, a redhead with brown eyes.

Amanda Bailey's family last saw her in Montgomery January 20th. She's 17, about 5-6, 145 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

37 year old Eddie Grady Junior disappeared from Lightwood Road in Elmore County January 28th. He's 5-9, 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Jessica Scruggs went missing from Millbrook on Christmas Day last year. The 17-year old stands 5-1, she weighs about 100 pounds with black hair and blue eyes.

Margot Etheridge was last seen driving her mother's Honda Accord in Butler February 1st. She is 17 years old, 5-8, 130 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

22 year old Julia Pearson was driving a 95 Nissan Maxima last September when she disappeared. She's 5-4, 115 pounds, and she has blond hair and brown eyes.

Laquanta Riley has missed two straight Christmases. She disappeared December 7th, 2003. The now 22 year old Riley stands 5-8, 200 pounds. She was last seen getting into a car from her eastside Montgomery home.

The news vultures are a remorseless machine. They scoop of information and turn out minutes of air time, like some great sausage maker that never stops. And, as with sausage, they aren't too particular about what bits they use or what comes out the other end.

When I saw this thread, I turned on CNN to see what they were saying, then literally had to turn it off because it was so embarrassing to watch a reporter interviewing some friend of the bride & groom.

Also, note that my statment of yesterday that the presumptive groom would have to be absolutely insane to submit to a polygraph test was right on the money. The police would have had him convicted in the media before this woman had picked up the phone.

It was disgusting watching this guy get convicted on FR because of the way his eyes moved, or some such crap.

she had just better be thankful her family isn't muslim...they would have a few stones to pound those loose screws back tight in her head.

As a father of two daughters, I certainly hope her dad wasn't stuck with the bill for all this!! If i was her dad, i know i wouldn't stone her to death, but skinning her alive would be a definite option!!!

How do we know he wasn't in on this publicity stunt?

I don't think he was in on it, but I think he suspected it.

As my father told my sisters, and I will tell my daughter, there is no happier occaision than a cancelled wedding. You already have the hall and the band, and you can have the party anyway.

"scared expression"..

You mean that "deer in the headlights" look?
Yes.. She looked like she was in a situation that had gotten completely out of control..
An amateur surfer on a Really Big Wave.. and a shark fin cutting through the water ahead..

After her fiance calms down he'll realize she did him a big favor by bolting before the wedding.

Exactly. I feel sorry for him and the humiliation he (and his family) faces, but think how much better this was than continuing with marrying a woman who is apparently so unstable she has to pull a stunt like this instead of telling him how she felt.

Whether it was the media or her family that made a national soap opera out of this situation, it is a sad lesson about living dishonestly.

I suspected something was a little off about her. She has a scared expression in every pic I've seen, eyes a little more open I mean.

My suspicions about that were confirmed when I found out she wears contacts. For some reason contacts appear to have that effect on some people.

Sometimes, it's nice to be wrong. I'm really glad she's alive.

Hey, the media filled that airtime. They pulled in the viewers and sold the soap powder. Yesterday is in the can, and tomorrow is another day. They can spend the next two days sucking in viewers with a story about how they are such morons and sell even more soap powder.

It's not like they have any shame, or anything.

I wouldn't call her a "bitch", I'd call her a "stupid bitch"... or drama queen...

I smell a Lifetime made-for-TV movie in her future, just think of the possibilities.

Also, I know how she could turn this whole story around in her favor: "He was abusive!".
