ORLANDO, Fla. -- Detectives on Wednesday released a photograph they hope will help them identify a girl seen in a series of sexually explicit pictures that were taken at a Walt Disney World hotel and other locations and have circulated over the Internet for the past three years.
The newly released photo is of another girl who investigators do not believe was sexually exploited.
But the backgrounds of the images of the two girls have enough similarities, including furniture and exercise equipment, that detectives believe they may have been in the same place at the same time, said Sgt. Matt Irwin, a sheriff's detective.
The second girl's image was included in a collage found on the Internet that included the sexually exploited girl, who detectives believe has been sexually abused almost daily for the past several years and has appeared in 200 explicit photos.
Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said the photo was being released "in hopes that if a citizen can identify her, it will greatly increase the chances of successfully identifying the perpetrator and recovering the victim."
Detectives do not know who the girls are or where they live, but they believe one of the images of the sexually exploited girl was taken at a Walt Disney World hotel several years ago, when she appeared to be about 9.
"Our hearts go out to the victim and her loved ones as we do everything we can to support law enforcement in its investigation," Disney spokeswoman Kim Prunty said in a statement.
The image made public Wednesday shows a grade-school-age girl with black bangs, a lime-colored halter top and cut-off blue jeans. She is seen holding a pink electronic game.
Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the girl, who was described as a material witness.
Child-porn investigators in Toronto discovered the pictures of the abused girl on the Internet and released some of them after digitally removing the victim in hopes of determining where the photos were taken. Clues from some of the photos suggest she may live in the northeastern United States or southeast Canada.
I was thinkig Hello Kitty or one of those "computer pets" things. Anyone we could ping with kids around the same age?
Seriously, I don't know of any ping list for parents or anything like that. There must be some way to get this thing circulating around here though.
i have a 10 yo daughter and i don't recognize the toy, but it looks like it might be a hand held video game? the Gameboy came out in that sort of elongated sideways shape a few years back, but i can't tell if that is what it is or not.
gabz, don't you post to the family table thread, or whatever it is called? might they be pinged to see if anyone recognizes the toy in this photo of the little girl?
If anyone can blow this up please feel free to do so. My photoshop skills are limited.
Someone has to recognize that symbol on the game/make-up kit/pencil box.
Hey, you have a missing persons ping list, right? This seems like a good time to deploy it.
I wonder if any of the other ping list holders would be persuaded to abuse their lists for something like this.
Gen_re: Off topic, is there a Master List of the Ping Lists? It might not be a bad idea for stuff like this. Just a thought. also thanks for the picture size boost.
the only ping list i have is WFTD, and i will certainly ping them for something like this. there is something called the family table or something which is a group of parents that post together. Gabz is eating dinner now, but i think she can get that group pinged when she gets back.
If you type in keyword pinglist there is a link with all the ping lists and the owner of that list. I just checked. I will search it for something that might help.
Compare it to a Girl Tech brand that came out around 1995 - 1997. They made electronic diaries and what-not.
Agreed. They should up it to $50,000.
pardon the offtopic ping, but people were wondering if anyone recognizes the toy in this photo, to perhaps aid in identifying the age of the little girl pictured, in this hunt for an abuse victim.
Come to think of it, there was a thread, wasn't there?

yes, that does look more like the electronic diary type thing than a videogame. i had forgotten about those.
Is there a way to move the large pics in posts #9 and #28 to the top of the thread, so that people can see them when they first land here?
Meek,
Ping - I know this is off topic but there are a lot of VK's on the ping list. Would you consider something like helping I.D. this girl or toy to help get some info out there? Sorry if this is not a VK thing but we are doing what we can to help and I thought of you and the other VK's.
My daughter says it looks like an electronic diary....look how she's holding it.
