RUMORS, RUMORS [OBL Dead?]

RUMORS, RUMORS [K. J. Lopez]

File this under unsubstantiated gossip. Was chatting with Jim Robbins. He keeps hearing this morning that the president might have some OBL news tonight? A new Islamist website is reporting that bin Laden is dead...and Musharraf has for the first time said publicly that OBL is in his country. We shall see...I'm skeptical. Jim is too. Jim adds wisely though: "if there is major terrorism news the president should just talk about that and talk domestic politics later -- if there is no major news, he should stick to his domestic agenda." Social Security reform rocks, but, uh, would get buried with OBL in the news coverage.

Still...skeptical. But I said Ratzinger wasn't going to be pope.

Today Iraqi has finally formed a Government signalling a real milestone in WOT. I would first like to see Zarqawi captured or killed now before OBL who already has been marginalized.

Don't worry I am all but sure this will be a 12 minute talk about private accounts followed by 2 minutes of energy and then 2 minutes of energy. And then Q and A.

We wouldn't be stupid enough to announce obl's death. That would only infuriate the ragheads and make him a martyr....

Maybe not; but in the old days (early 1400s), Henry IV felt the need to do away with a traitor, Percy, who threatened to split Northumberland away from England. To prove he was actually dead, I think, and to make an example, Percy's severed head was fastened to London Bridge, and his body was cut up, pickled, and put on display in various parts of the realm. Percy's supporters were not pleased, but they seem to have gotten the message. That was then; now, we're more civilized (but for how long?)...

Yes for future suicide bombers. The brain washing must begin at an early age.

Yes do not get hyped. If this ever happens, then I am sure it will be breaking news. The White House could not keep that type of news out of the MSM for long.

But I did hear one that Teddy K. has switched from Chivas to JW Black Label.

I thought he was a Seagrams guy. His old man was, source of the family fortune I'm told.

Well...the context was fuzzy...they were both asked (Bridgette Quinn)what they thought the pres would be talking about- and Kristol brought it up himself- saying it's unusual for the pres to request Primetime and that he (Kristol) thinks he may have a surprise for us. Later Fred was specifically asked if he thought there would be anything unusual about the press conf- he said it wouldn't surprise him if the pres had something up his sleeve.

I guess what struck me was the way they both were grinning.

If this is just hype I'll be MAD- agree that false expectations are bad for business...

It'll certainly ifuriate the left. How can they drop "where's bin Laden?" BS before each election.

Look how long it took to find Eric Rodulph who was known to be in western NC!

Agree with whom? I didn't state S.S. was going nowhere. I stated it could be further along than it is with better PR and cooperation from Republican Representatives too squemish to take a stand. It certainly isn't dead.

As to tonight's conference, since it was announced it was about S.S. and energy and this stands to disappoint you, I'm not certain why you'd watch. It's not as though they are engaging in false advertising about the intent of this conference so your disappointment would be of your own making by hoping otherwise.

If Bin Laden is dead, people will think that the war on terror is over.

Good point.....

Okay, I'm going to add to this rumor a little with something I've been sitting on for a while.

I have a good friend who is both a state trooper and a helicopter pilot in the army reserve. He's already had 2 tours in Iraq. About a month ago he was called up again, given only ONE day to get his affairs in order and was shipped out to Afghanistan the next day. All he would say was "we've found bin Laden".

I know no more than that.

Thank you for the recap. In that instance, I would temper expectations. It may be they have insider knowledge, but even if they do there is no guarentee it is something that we would consider big. And if it's just hopeful expectations on their part, I don't want to have anticipation raised too high to properly access the Address tonight.

I do thank you for the rport of their countenances. It may be a signal and I'm grateful to have this info to keep in mid. Guess we'll find out soon one way or the other.

The capture of Zarqawi's laptop revealed the truth. OBL existed only in Zarqawi's mind and his laptop. Zarqawi is the true mastermind and OBL was merely a figment of Zarqawi's imagination. The perfect crime...... almost.
