TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- The Florida Supreme Court says it won't consider an appeal from conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh. Today's four-to-three order didn't explain the court's reasoning.
Limbaugh's attorney argues that an appeals court misconstrued Florida law when it ruled prosecutors could review the records.
Prosecutors seized Limbaugh's medical records in 2003 for an investigation into whether he illegally purchased prescription painkillers.
Limbaugh hasn't been charged with any crime. He lost at the appellate court level and wanted the Florida Supreme Court to overturn a ruling that would open his medical records and possibly allow prosecutors to build a case against him.
Limbaugh has maintained his innocence throughout the investigation and argues that the case threatens the privacy rights of all Floridians.
I wonder how many people here who are expressing shock at the ruling were torqued off when it appeared Terri Schiavo's records, including the investigation of abuse by family services could possibly be sealed?
No conservative ever wins in Florida Courts.
< The prosecutors are going through his private medical records to try to find a crime to charge him with. >
Bingo!
Unfortunately, it may be the prison door that slams on Rush. Just another victim of the Drug War.
I wonder if they will let him broadcast from his cell?
If so Rush would make the best of it by critiquing the prison chow or talking about the liberal winnie Prison Bulls.
Instead of "Open Line Friday" Rush Could have "Open Recreation Yard Monday" or "Prison Shakedown Thursday."
Well, if it was found that they sent their servant to purchase hundreds of thousands of dollars of illegal narcotics from people in parking lots, I suspect that they might have their medical records looked into.
TOUCHÉ.
Could give him a valuable new perspective on drug policy.
I am sure Rush could do a wonderful commentary about how badly the 18th Green at the Florida State Pen Golf Course is manicured. sarcasm/
Some was already gained. Remember the Family Services records investigating the alleged abuse?
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if there was media bias against W/J either.
We all know it could affect everything. That's what's really scary about it. All our liberals will get more bad ideas from the publicity in FL.
"Well, if it was found that they sent their servant to purchase hundreds of thousands of dollars of illegal narcotics from people in parking lots, I suspect that they might have their medical records looked into."
The "servant" along with her felonious husband were given immunity from prosecution to say anything they wanted to the prosecutor. When Rush wouldn't pay them blackmail they sold their story to to the Inquirer for 400,000. This was a set-up from the word go.
Then he should sue them.
Why hasn't he?
WOD Irony Ping.
Look say what you want to but there is only one reason that these medical records aren't being protected.
I know it and you know it, So who cares what excuse they are using to do it.
Just another example of the hypocrasy of the liberal mainstream.
From a medical standpoint, there is sound reasoning to prevent people from going out and buy certain meds OTC. The standard of care for diagnosing strep throat is a throat culture/DNA probe. I have yet to find a doctor who can accurately diagnose strep without one of these. People taking antibiotics when they don't need them is one of the major reasons that we are now having increased incidence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. As for "painkillers", it is very easy to get hooked on narcotic prescription analgesics, even in those who thought they had tremendous "willpower".
As for having to go to the doctor "every time their finger is pricked by a thorn", I assume you mean that doctors are more reluctant to treat a patient over the phone. Blame the lawyers. If this society was less litigious, then doctos would have more freedom to use their judgement in treating a patient without an office visit. In some cases, this can be done, in others, it's best the patient sees the doctor face to face.

Time to ponder those halcyon days when the Drug War only targeted those people of a different race or nationality that lived on the other side of town. Of course it was always fun to watch when the cops busted white hippy kids for pot but now the drug war is not so much fun that they are now going after the greatest symbol of middle America.
