Thats what Im thinking also, I wonder if there is any Offense available for them today..and if there is if they would pick those.

To be honest I didnt think our defence was THAT bad last year. They kept us in many games.

May their reasons prove justified for such a positive outlook. Its sounds like yall definately could have done worse.

yeah I think the Browns would have had a hard time beating them last year....especially after the 2nd Ravens game and the entire season fell apart....

The hard part is wating through 4-5 months of hype for the kickoff.

The Cowboys have drafted a defensive end with their first pick five times in the last ten years. Greg Ellis was the only one that came remotely close to being a decent pick. Charles Haley was their last decent outside rush threat.

Year before last, the Cowboys had a very good defense. What a lot of people missed about the great defenses of the early ninties is that the Cowboys offense routinely opened games with a couple of eight minute drives. There were frequently games where the defense only had three plays during the first quarter. Offenses need time to figure out a defense, and while the Cowboys defense was great, they looked even better with an offense that was routinely on the field for forty to 45 minutes a game. While the defensive secondary broke down completely last year (partly because the D-line could get no pressure), it didn't help that the offense was terrible. For example, the Pokes had the Steelers beaten, and committed an unforced (Testeverde hit the ball on his running back's helmet) turnover to hand the Steelers the ball in Cowboy territory. The offense HAS to improve, if they're going to go over .500 ball.

Great analysis. I wonder if Parcells and Jones plan to get some offense help through free agency later.
Whatever offense we have should get more play time with our improved defense....maybe they can do something with it. In any case it should be better than last year!Charles Haley..those were the days..teams feared him.

If I had to pick between Vick and Harrington, I'd take up golf. Here's my view: Vick is a running QB, who has never shown to be a particularly efficient passer. Because of his phenomenal athletic ability, he makes a lot of yards. However, running QBs who don't become dangerous passers (like Steve Young or Roger Staubach) seldom last very long in the NFL. I think he's somewhat overhyped, and his massive contract would make it difficult to flesh out the rest of the team. Harrington, OTOH, has never shown himself to be particularly adept at tough games. he's above average, but not by that much. Except for Barry Sanders (and note that Sanders chose to retire with the rushing title in reach, voluntarily making himself less of a legend than he would have been, and he specifically stated in his retirement letter that the Lions refusal to commit to winning was the primary reason he retired), Lion players tend to trend toward mediocrity. I don't know why, but there's something that has screamed mediocre about the entire team ever since the sixties. Their uniforms, the lighting in their domed stadium, their play selection, everything eminently says "generic football team."

In a single game, I'd go with Vick. Because I think Vick will get injured (and his herpes may make him lose a step), I would probably rather build a team around Harrington.

Cowboys get Marion Barber, RB. Not much Info out there on him. He is 5.11" and 215 lbs.

A lot of people feared Haley. Remember, the 49ers traded him to the Cowboys because he urinated on the general manager's desk during a contract dispute.

I heard a story this morning about Marcus Spears, who Da Boyz took second yesterday--

He was being interviewed yesterday after being picked and was asked how he would feel about being moved inside as opposed to playing def. end---he said something like, well I am told that there is a lot of "trash" to be cleaned up inside and I am gonna be paid a lot of money to "take out the trash" so I say no problem!!!

Yeah, I am glad they took offense first pick today, but the Cowboys are notoriously AWFUL on second day drafting! They have got to do better today, than they have been.

lmao! I didnt know that. Although I knew he didnt get along with the 49ers management. He always did have an attitude..but his performance was top notch.

The 49ers must regret that trade. He was instrumental in a SB or 2.

I like his attitude.

So I guess this other RB puts some pressure on Julious Jones to perform..not that 819 and 4+ yards per carry is bad. This guy will be a backup?

Vinny threw 17 tds but 20 interceptions...I wonder how much of that was due to lack of protection.

As a UGA fan, I am just happy to see people like, Brown, Williams, Jason Cambell and Carlos Rogers out of the SEC ROFL

As an Auburn fan I am very happy to see people like Reggie Brown, Thomas Davis, David Pollack, David Greene, and Odell Thurman move on to the NFL. Now, if only Coach Richt would follow them to the next level… ;~)

Uh, oh, I think the Boyz are at it again--bad second day picks--

They just TRADED with GB to get a pick here for another DE-Chris Canty of Virginia---who had a lot of health problems including a detached retina that needs surgery!!!

What the heck are they doing? Plus, they gave away a 4th round pick in NEXT years draft for this guy!

My blood pressure might not take more of this today, I already have gotten upset on the political threads today!

I wonder what it is they like about him enough to spend the future pick.

6.7" height? Enough D, Did they forget we need to score touchdowns too?

I have no idea why they picked this one so...
