This is a victory for Americans! Now, we need to round up the illegals and deport them.

The Senate today blocked a measure that would have created a path to citizenship for an estimated 500,000 farmworkers and their families, dealing a setback to those who advocate legalization as the key to immigration reform.

YES!

The measure's supporters failed to secure the 60 votes needed to prevent a filibuster by opponents, ending the effort by Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) to attach the plan to an $80-billion emergency funding bill that mainly would pay for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sure, Larry. Idaho has what, about 25,000 illegals? We'll pay for them for you. Forget the fact that California has millions and other states have millions more. Sure. We'll all pitch in and help you pay for them.

This man has no more patriotism than Clinton; Hillary or Bill.

victories abound on the illegal alien front. When will the leadership in the White House realize they need to take a hard line on criminality?

"...100 days in the 18-month period before Dec. 31, 2004 and meet certain other criteria would be eligible for temporary residency.

Once the worker obtained temporary residency, he or she would have to work another 360 days over at least the next three years and no more than six years to be eligible for permanent residency. The spouse and children of farmworkers who obtained permanent residency would also be eligible for permanent residency."

Lets see.......that means that one person must work for a total of 460 days within a 7 1/2 year period, and is therefore rewarded along with a spouse and children.....how on earth would one make a case that this many people could have existed on 460 days pay for 7 1/2 years? Gimme a break! By the time the reward occurs, there will be 7 anchor babies born and then the farce matters not........but we will have financed it that long with a long list of social benefits.....the unearned kind......to the tune of at least 6 figures a copy.

This is unbelieveable. If anything I'd have said this would have passed, and Bolton would have been passed. Instead Bolton is stuck in committe, and this amendment fails.

I'm happy it failed, understand, but it's as though the world is upside down today. We've had far more success in Bush's nominations than on the illegal front.

it doesn't matter whether they are citizens or not,

because the federal government issues them i.d. #s so that that they can buy houses.

the u.s. government depends on the housing market, new and used to push our economy.

The huge Washington cop-out on America. Illegal invasion, rewarded. What a mockery of our laws -- what a shafting of the American people. Who does Washington think they are fooling? They are more interested in keeping Vincete Fox happy along with all his millions of criminals in the US, than taking care of America's borders, laws, her intersts, and those of the American people.

You bass-turds!!!! :-(

Now, they are trying to sneak amnesty for illegals through in the supplementary military spending bill.

GWB and Co and determined to get amnesty through, somehow, someway, sometime during his tenure.

I watched Sen. Sessions of Alabama pick this turkey of a bill apart on C-Span yesterday evening. That 100 days of ag work could mean as little as 100 HOURS, because an hour of any day counted as a day's labor! The worker could then get green card status and that would have allowed his entire family to move to the USA, so that 500,000 would have atleast been 5 times that many Mexicans getting on the gravy train over here. Larry Craig must have been paid off handsomely in his last run for office by some really big tator farmers in Idaho to have come up with this monstrosity.
