OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..
Boxer- American people don't like abuse of power.
Me- That's why we elected the Dems into the minority!
Allen- closed hearings will result in leaks of what was said that can be distorted.

Kerry's argument is that secret testimony should be admitted for the purpose of torpedoing a presidential nominee.
Did she just admit that she was hoping Hagel and Chaffee would defect because that's what she heard on Tv??
Now Biden trying to convince he had the highest of motives when he moved for closed session.
In full-martyr voice Biden says "fine by me", that they dont' go into closed session.

It would appear their definition of Advise and Consent IS to SMEAR the other guy. Since it has often worked for them they figure they'll just keep doing it. Taking any other tack would involve new ideas......a prospect with which they are unfamiliar.

Boxer calls out Chafee and Hagel for voting to keep the hearing open, she even admitted that they were counting on them to vote against Bolton!!!!
So when he's affirmed, they can slyly allude to the fact that he's "flawed."
