The conservative Catholic World News mocks CNN commentator Christiane Amanpour for implying that the hero-worship of the youthful masses as last Friday's funeral was transitory.

"The real question, of course, is how the Church will keep itself relevant in the centuries to come, or even in the next generation," Amanpour was heard to say on the audio track that accompanied images of the funeral.

Catholic World News commented: "It takes a special kind of reporter to see the crowds, the outpouring of emotion, the tributes from world leaders, the fascination with ritual - and conclude that Catholicism is becoming irrelevant."
