One analyst on cnn earlier today said that the choice of the name may be due to the fact that the last Benedict served for only a short time. Thus Pope Benedict XVI may be giving hints about the probable shortness of his papacy.

That's why I don't watch CNN. If you don't have EWTN, try Fox.

Nah. I'm not buying that one. Having been a fan of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger for years, I sense that our beloved Holy Father's thoughts are to stick around as long as possible, to do as much good as possible.
