But FNC is saying the smoke has appeared much earlier than expected and that this is also a sign they have elected a Pope.

I heard that Jessie Jackson somehow got elected.
He was quoted as saying, " The Cathooolic Church has guided missiles but mis-guided policies"

We DO NOT have a Pope, NO WHITE smoke. There is some confusion, people can't tell the difference between white and black because it's overcast in Rome.

Someone has an American flag and I think a Vatican flag on a 20-30' pole towering over the crowd.

Mom, early this morning when the vote was completed (but no pope was selected) the smoke appeared white for a few minutes. No bells were ringing and eventually news agencies stated the smoke was black. However, one Italian agency stated erroneously that a pope had been chosen.

Theologically conservative and would be likely to carry on John Paul the Great's work. That, and another Italian would be such a let down.....and God help us if it's a Frenchman or a Latin American. Arinze wouldn't be bad, but I'm pulling for Ratzinger.
