For those who are interested, here are links to two documents on homosexuality produced by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on the new Pope's watch. They explain why Andrew Sullivan is having the vapors.

LETTER TO THE BISHOPS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ON THE PASTORAL CARE OF HOMOSEXUAL PERSONS

CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING PROPOSALS TO GIVE LEGAL RECOGNITION TO UNIONS BETWEEN HOMOSEXUAL PERSONS

Seems God was listening to you on this day. You must be living right. ;)

I'm not even Catholic and I was hoping desperately for Ratzinger's election.

Interesting. What makes you think that?

"I think this homily shows he realizes he's not going to be elected. He's too much of a polarizing figure," McBrien said. "If he were elected, thousands upon thousands of Catholics in Europe and the United States would roll their eyes and retreat to the margins of the church."

Eat crow McBrien, you heretical putz.

"The whole chapter talking about false prophets and teachers. Think of cretins like Robinson and Spong and the verses describe them perfectly. But that verse is something you put up is very compelling. Look at how Robinson who is licentious due to his homosexuality reviles the Bible and the truth of the Gospel. Ratzinger is a titan next to these pygmys."

No comparison can even be made without demeaning the new Holy Father.

I would bet he's added Polish to his repertoire by now.

It is so wonderful to see the YOUNG Catholics excited about this wonderful man being elected Pope. One of the reporters for Fox in Rome was interviewing some American seminarians and they looked beside themselves with happiness for the choice that was made.

Habemus Papum! God Bless Pope Benedict XVI and the Holy Catholic Church!

Does Ratzinger speak English?

EWTN showed excerpts today from an (English) interview they did with Ratzinger a year or two ago.

He speaks English better than JPII, and with a German accent, of course. IOW, someone as linguistically challenged as I could understand what he was saying.

Thanks. Not many people got upset, but I did screw up with one lady known as Integrityrocks. I did have my offending post pulled and I apologized.

But besides that, there were only two people who expressed any anger at me. There will always be those who love me and those who hate me, and the key is to learn not to care.

I came from such conservatism that it was considered sinful for women to laugh out loud. Thankfully, I'm no longer under such constraints. Very little offends me anymore, and I try to see humor in everything. Life is too short to be so serious all the time.

I think it was Robin Williams who once said that God had to have a sense of humor; otherwise why else would he have created a platypus? :)

Anyway, thanks for the jokes and laughter...helps augment a joyous day.

This is it in its entirety:

POPE BENEDICT XVI: URBI ET ORBI BLESSING
Dear brothers and sisters,

After our great Pope, John Paul II, the Cardinals have elected me, a simple, humble worker in God's vineyard.

I am consoled by the fact that the Lord knows how to work and how to act, even with insufficient tools, and I especially trust in your prayers.

In the joy of the resurrected Lord, trustful of his permanent help, we go ahead, sure that God will help. And Mary, his most beloved Mother, stands on our side. Thank you.

Could you PLEASE post that bio of Pope Pius XII on other Pope threads. I think most Jews have NO idea of what PiusXII actually did and how they have been brainwashed into thinking he was bad. Thanks.
