FYI..just now on Special REport..Carl Cameron states flatly that Bolton will be confirmed tomorrow..Lugar will force the vote, and NO GOP senators will vote against him, despite attempts to suggest that Hagel will vote against.

Maybe the presidential wannabees will be voting for Bolton - to try to fool people.

Well .. I doubt Lugar would have been willing to say Bolton will be confirmed - if he wasn't SURE of the votes.
He'll be confirmed when he gets a floor vote.... But isn't Lugar just talking about a Committee vote to send the nomination on to the Senate for floor action whenever Frist places him on the agenda?

Lugar was also pretty assertive Sunday stating that he would vote for the nuclear option..he said the Dems had given the GOP no choice..

A quick check turned up this article from the Guardian:
Showdown Vote for U.N. Nominee Bolton
April 18, 2005
excerpt:
``I do not think the concerns raised about Secretary Bolton warrant our rejection of the president's selection for his own representative to the U.N.,'' Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., said in a statement prepared for Tuesday's hearing.
The language is the usual milquetoast Senate speak, but I do think his move (which Cameron said was unusual) of releasing his statement a day early delivers its own message.

I think so. Once he's out of committee - his confirmation was already assured in the floor vote.

Because some folks live for bad news. Reaffirms their worst fears. No matter if it's true or not. Think of all the planes that have been diverted for some reason or another. Sure to get loads of people crying bomb.

No kidding. A simple cotton-pickin up or down vote is all it takes.
Well apparently the Dems think an up or down vote is an Abuse of Power
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1377067/posts?page=288#282 BTW, I noticed on all of the Sunday talks shows yesterday and then again in Nelson's speech that the new "talking point catch phrase of the day" is - ABUSE OF POWER
