TAMPA, Fla. -- State investigators found no evidence that Terri Schiavo had been abused or exploited by either side of her family, according to documents released by Florida's Department of Children and Families.
The agency investigated 89 complaints dating back to 2001, when Schiavo's feeding tube was removed for the first time and the legal battle surrounding her right-to-die case intensified.
The calls alleged that the brain-damaged woman was being mistreated by her husband and her parents for financial gain. One complaint alleged that Schiavo's parents were selling videos of her through a Web site; another said Schiavo's husband wasn't spending money intended for her rehabilitation.
But investigators said they found no evidence that either her husband or parents were exploiting her, and often noted in their records that they found Schiavo well cared for on their visits to her Pinellas Park hospice.
The agency released the records Friday under court order.
Schiavo, 41, died last month after her feeding tube was removed for the third time, ending a bitter court battle between her husband, Michael Schiavo, and parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, over whether she would have wanted to live in a vegetative state.
The repeated allegations of abuse were based partly on bone scans showing Terri Schiavo suffered fractures and statements she made to family and friends that she was unhappy in her marriage.
Schiavo's husband has denied harming his wife. His lawyer said the fractures resulted from osteoporosis caused by the woman's years of immobility and complications of her medication.
Robert Schindler declined to comment there on the release of the DCF documents. An attorney for Michael Schiavo did not immediately return calls
Wow, what a suprise to se the Associated Press spreading another lie.... NOT.
This is a believable bunch isn't it
*gasp* I'm shocked. Not. This is going to be swept under the rug. The woman was murdered by her husband, I'd call that extremely abusive.
The AP was probably orgasming when they wrote this crock.
The fires of hell are getting HOTTER
First of all, nothing in this report said, "She's gone let's forget her".
Second, there are some on here who will call every piece of evidence and every opinion that doesnt' conform 110% to their expectations as part of the vast conspiracy. The problem with those folk is that they (along with their counterparts on the other side) will kill discussions of any measures to prevent this from happening again.
Every 10 years... set your watch... and remember my words when it happens again.
Is it possible that the guy never hit his wife? I was not there, and so you. So why is it almost 100% of you guys believe for sure that the husband beat her up, and put her into a coma. Then, he spent years at her bed side helping her. You guys need a hobby or something else to waste your time on.
""We feel that release of those records will be helpful for all concerned to evaluate the frivolity of the continuing investigation," attorney Hamden Baskin III told the Orlando Sentinel."
The only reason for releasing: persuasion to call off the investigation. I say one more reason to continue...guess some of us just favor the frivolous quest for truth.
The evidence shows she was bulemic and experienced heart problems as a result of a potassium deficiency induced by a very poor diet.
Wasn't DCF touted as the savior a month ago? So now, they're part of Satan's conspiracy? Can it be that you're just WRONG?
EWWW ! Please pass me an iron spike to drive into my brain to erase THAT image from my mind.

She lost weight with weight watchers before she met Michael.
Step 2: "The DCF investigation finds 'NO EVIDENCE' that Terri was abused."
Step 3: "The investigation was rigged!"
As I understand it, DCF did not conduct an investigation after Terri's death -- this is stuff that was sealed long ago and is now being released. I could be wrong about that, but that is what I gather. Note, also, it just refers to her recent treatment -- not to any allegations about how she collapsed in the first place, or how she was cared for before she was moved to the hospice. The report says it refers to complaints filed since 2001.
Not to offend, just wondering what sources you've considered.
"My point is: who lets their kid gain that much weight?" As opposed to the kind that force their kids to puke up their food? Who knows? Some people gain weight more easily than others. I've seen families where some kids are skinny and some are fat. They obviously have access to the same food, so I wouldn't be so quick to blame parents -- other than for their genetics.
