Cochise County Government Targets Bible College for Renting to Minuteman Project Volunteers
email | 14 April 2005 | Russ Dove

Posted on 04/15/2005 6:39:08 AM PDT by Spiff

MMP Director Jim Gilchrist has been informed that James E. Vlahovich, Director, Cochise County Planning Department has levied a fine of $750.00 per day on the The Miracle Valley Bible College in Hereford, Arizona for renting dorm rooms and campground lots to the Minuteman Project.

Isn't it bad enough that we have MALDEF, the ACLU (who are inciting problems daily), Vicente Fox, the Mayor of Douglas, Jorge Bush, Derechos Humanos, Hoover and his water barrels, anti-American politicians, the Cochise CountyBoard of Supervisors and all the rest harassing the Minuteman Project. Please overwhelm Vlahovich with your protests.

Please do two things:
1) Please contact James E. Vlahovich and share your fury with this arbitrary action against Americans exercising their First Amendment rights and the rights of Property Owners to do with their property as they please.

2) Send this message to everyone you know!

Director, James E. Vlahovich, Director

Schools around here offer dorm rooms to rent to parents of students during the summer as well.

In other words, Cochise County has done more to stop MMP than they have to stop illegals.

Well said.

Let me tell you that Director's office is rude as hell.
Of course the first utterance had to do with "what's my
concern, since I am calling from out of state?"

Like THAT matters, when this is a US issue!

Which supervisor might be nicer to me?

Dear Montfort,

At least where I live, colleges and universities often rent their facilities, including dormitory space, to groups and individuals not otherwise associated with the school.

I've attended seminars, conventions, and similar events and stayed in college dorm rooms, and used other college resources. It's a way from schools to earn extra money when classes are out.

I'd be really surprised if this is only done in my part of the country.

This would be an awful precedent wherein a planner's whim would override the right to free assembly.

I just called, it seems "Jim" was on the phone, so I left a voice message.

Federal Immigration and Nationality Act, Section 8, USC

It states: "Any person who encourages or induces an alien to reside knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such resident is in violation of law, shall be punished as provided - for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs to be fined under Title 18 - imprisoned not more than five years or both. A person (including a group of persons, business organization or local government) commits a federal felony when he or she assists an alien, he or she should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment. Or encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way."

Pat Call may be sympathetic - he's a fairly decent Republican. Searle, I don't know. Newman is a dirtbag Democrat who threatened to abuse power and harass the Minuteman Project. I'm checking on the P&Z Director's political affiliation and will post it here.

LOL!
I had guessed that "Paul Newman" would be a democrat.

Thanks for the info.
I'll try Pat first.

I just got off the phone with the P&Z Director's office. I spoket to Sonya - the receptionist there. She said that the Director was finally in to the office but would be in meetings most of the day. She said that he told her that only HE could talk about the situation and that she could not answer any questions. I told her that it was wrong that the Director was the only County Employee who could release any information about this. She said I would have to take that up with him.

Looks like Newman got to the P&Z commission. That little rat turd took over the County district I'm in this past January, replacing Pat Call, so calling my County Supervisor (Newman) won't do a dang thing. I'm still waiting for the BP to explain why they let this idiot go when they stopped him at a checkpoint and found him wasted on maryjane.

Absolutely outrageous.

Lets see how long it takes before they tuck their tails and beat a hasty retreat on this issue.

I've written an e-mail to the Herald's Sr. Reporter for Border Issues and asked him to expose what's going on here. I'd love to know what Vlahovich thinks he's going to accomplish with this.

If you remember, Spiff, this is one of the steps the Board threatened to take against the MMP back in March. I'm not surprised they followed through, but I doubt they have any idea what the consequences are going to be.
