The pitch was a bit high, but we'll give it to him on the body armor rule. Oh, and it was from 60ft, not 40 like someone else we won't mention.

No grounders from this guy.

I was thinking the same thing. :) Didn't they decorate the Oval Office in Peaches and Cream a few years back? So maybe they always have to have matching roses or something.

Why anyone would give one cent to the SJ marxist news is beyond me.

When the papersalespeople in the grocery stores ask me why I wont take the sj mercury news, i politely tell them.

I know, I know, but it's something to read while eating lunch and taking my breaks at work. BTW, I get a kick out of reading the OpEd page sometimes, too. I call it the "scream page".

I sure don't trust them for the news.

I'm watching the game on UPN 20 (here in DC). Apparently the roar for the opening pitch announcement and walk-on by the Prez was HUGE. The pitch was a little high but still
cool. W looks great in the bright jacket.

Ratz, I was hoping it would have been a sizzling strike.

I'm just thankful it was President Bush, and not the other guy. He'd have been soooo embarrassing, and would have been the subject of a "caption this loser" thread.

Apparently this was the first time since Nixon in 1969 that the Presidential first pitch has been in the nations capitol. The Washington Senators left Washington, eventually to become the Texas Rangers, partly owned by none other than George W. Bush.

The ball that W is throwing is the very same ball that Joe Grzenda of Pennsylvania threw for the last pitch for the Senators 34 years ago.

It was 95 years ago to the day when President William Howard Taft threw out the first pitch to welcome baseball to the Washington area.
