GOOGLE APPARENTLY HOSTS TERROR BLOG THREATENING BUSH AND BLAIR

Image on Blog

It appears an Internet blog featuring a computer manipulated image of President George W. Bush clad in an orange jump suit and sitting before five Islamic executioners is being hosted by search engine giant Google.

Another graphic image shows former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld all engulfed in flames.

These and other images are posted on http://mojahidmouslim.blogspot.com

Blogspot.com, Blogger.com and Blotspot.com are all owned by Google. Blogspot.com and Blotspot.com both redirect to Blogger.com.

An article detailing the beginnings of Blogger.com reads (www.blogger.com/about), "Blogger was started by a tiny company in San Francisco called Pyra Labs in August of 1999 ... Blogger took off, in a small way, and eventually a bigger way, over a couple years. We raised a little money (but stayed small). And then the bust happened, and we ran out of money, and our fun little journey got less fun. We narrowly survived, not all in one piece, but kept the service going the whole time (most days) and started building it back up. Things were going well again in 2002. We had hundreds of thousands of users, though still just a few people. And then something no one expected happened: Google wanted to buy us (http://weblog.siliconvalley.com/column/dangillmor/archives/000802.shtml ). Yes, that Google. We liked Google a lot. And they liked blogs. So we were amenable to the idea. And it worked out nicely."

There is a prominent link to Google at the bottom of the home page for http://mojahidmouslim.blogspot.com

The remainder of the blog appears to be primarily comprised of links to other Islamic sites.

An e-mail to Google's abuse department both informing the company of the site's presence on Google servers and asking Google to contact me was answered in part like this, "Thank you for your note. This is an automated reply. If you need individual assistance, please respond to this email."

Another e-mail to Google's abuse department was not immediately answered.

GOOGLE VIDEO STORAGE

Meanwhile, Internet Haganah's Aaron Weisburd noticed recently (www.haganah.us/haganah/internet.html) that individuals who frequent www.ribaat.org have noticed a new service – Google Video.

(The link to ribaat was at www.ribaat.org/services/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29297, but it now appears to have been removed).

It appears that radical Islamics could be planning to use Google as a way to disseminate terrorist videos.

As Weisburd commented (www.haganah.us/haganah/internet.html), "If Google thought selling advertising to Hamas was problematic, just wait till their new beta video library is packed high and tight with jihadi snuff films."

What is Google video? A company explanation read in part (https://upload.video.google.com/video_faq.html#overview2 ).

"Our mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Currently, Google Video lets you search a growing archive of televised content -- everything from sports events to dinosaur documentaries to news programs. In addition to televised content, we're now accepting video from anyone who wants to upload content to us. Uploaded content will not be immediately available to users searching Google Video as this is just the submission stage of the program. But (if you'll pardon the pun) stay tuned.

"The upload program lets you submit videos electronically to Google Video, as long as you own the necessary rights (including copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, and any other relevant rights for your content). Just sign up for an account and use our upload tool to send your videos to Google. The program is still in beta so you won't see your videos live on Google Video immediately."
