The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

We now know more about an alleged attack that triggered an increased national threat level last summer.

That's when U.S. officials said they had uncovered a plot targeting financial institutions. The plot involved bombs, banks and British nationals.

The detail was startling, the targets enormous. They included financial buildings in Washington, New York and New Jersey.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Srinigar, India - Suspected Muslim rebels detonated a grenade on Thursday as children left a Christian missionary school in Indian Kashmir, killing two women and wounding about 50 people including 20 pupils, police said.

"Please save me, I don't want to die. Call my parents," screamed a girl, her leg covered in blood, outside the school in Srinagar.

Distraught parents, many of them weeping, searched for their children at the scene of the blast in the centre of the main city of Kashmir where separatist rebels are waging a 15-year-old revolt against Indian rule.

"The grenade exploded as the schoolchildren were coming out of the gate of the school as it closed for the day," a police officer told reporters."

Emadeddin Muntasser, the former head of Care International, and Muhammed Mubayyid, the group’s former treasurer, were arrested Thursday following their Wednesday indictment on charges of concealing information from federal agencies, conspiring to defraud the United States, and making false statements to the FBI. The charity is now defunct. ...

Muntasser, 40, of Braintree, the owner of the Logan Furniture chain and a Libyan national, was a founding president of the Boston-based charity Care International.

Mubayyid, 40 of Shrewsbury, Care’s treasurer, has been employed by Ptech Inc., a Quincy software firm that was in the news two years ago after federal agent searched its offices as part of an investigation into funding of terrorist groups. No charges were ever brought against Ptech or its officers."

I've had a hard time keeping up. But here is some small town news that YOU WILL WANT TO HEAR if not already repeated.

GETTYSBURG-CHAMBERSBURG- 2 SMALL PLANE INCIDENTS

EARLY AM 2 DAYS AGO, AROUND 7;30 AM- ONE SMALL PLANE WAS SPRAYING AND UNKNOWN SUBSTANCE OVER GETTYSBURG, WHILE SIMLUTANEOUSLY ANOTHER SMALL PLANE WAS SPRAYING THE CHAMBERSBURG AREA. RESIDENTS COULD FIND NO REPORTS OF ANY LEGAL SPRAYING GOING ON, SUCH AS WEST NILE.

BOTH PLANES HEADED TOWARD A RESERVOIR NEAR CHAMBERSBURG AND BOTH WERE BELIEVED TO GO DOWN IN THE WATER. THE RESERVOIR IS VERY DEEP.

There was only one small article in the Chambersburg paper, and in the Gettysburg paper, 3 small lines at the bottom of the second page vaguely described the incident.

Near Saugatauk reservoir here in CT, a similar incident occurred recently, only no overt spraying was observed.


What are your thoughts? What do you think is going on? These incidents trouble me, esp in light of stolen sprayer planes and threats to poison water....

I haven't looked at this thread in ages but for some reason clicked on your post. This would be quite the notable event if it actually occurred. Prior to the ditchings, if the aircraft were ever 1,000 ft AGL or so, ATC flight-following RADAR (or whatever they call it now) would probably have primary echo recordings of the aircraft even if no transponders were turned on. This would help establish the tracks and terminal locations. Once in the reservoir, it should not take long to locate the aircraft using SONAR or other methods if they are there.

I wonder if these aircraft were actually ultralights, whether spraying or not, and landed normally somewhere near the reservoir.

I forgot to add that the children were evacuated and removed to the old remaining "bomb shelter" in Gettysburg under the old Junior high. This tells me that TPTB were NOT aware of any legitimate sprayings and were concerned....

OPINION: Well, my thoughts on this...I know in our area (which is not the areas you are speaking of); it's spring time and the farmers are out flying their cropdusters. I don't know what substance comes out of those planes.

If no one (from the police department, fire department, city hall ag unit) cannot explain what those planes were/are doing; then it's time someone puts the incidents as an agenda item at the next townhall meeting in Gettysburg-Chambersbug and have the council discuss this.
