"Osama's Little Green Dot" (May 5, 2005)
The Associated Press Published: May 5, 2005
SGT. KARIM IRAQ: Held without bail in Palm Beach County Jail.
WELLINGTON, Fla. (AP) - An Army sergeant who left his Georgia post six months ago was tracked down at his parents' home after a notebook with anti-American and anti-Semitic writings was found in his discarded backpack. Karim Iraq, 25, was arrested as a deserter and is being held without bail at the Palm Beach County Jail, sheriff's officials said.
His father said the soldier fled Fort Stewart after the Army extended his enlistment because he had soured on the U.S. military mission in Iraq. The father said the soldier was also harassed over his Palestinian heritage.
"He was feeling rejected or discriminated against for the last year or so.... He said he'd been made fun of all of the time. He never fit in. They made fun of his name. They always looked at him like he's an outsider," Zayed Iraq said.
Karim Iraq was arrested Tuesday, a day after the backpack was found Monday at a gas station within miles of his parents' home in this West Palm Beach suburb. The father said the bag was probably left there by a burglar who had broken into the soldier's truck days earlier.
Authorities said a notebook inside the backpack contained handwritten notes cursing the military, freedom and the United States. A message reading "Die you know who you are!!!" appears with an image of the Star of David in a circle with a line through it. "He's a dangerous guy with anti-American slogans and a deserter. It's someone we want to get off the street immediately," sheriff's Capt. Gregory Richter said.
Zayed Iraq said his Detroit-born son was proud of his service in Iraq and Kuwait on two previous tours but had become disenchanted and did not want to go back to the Middle East for a third time.
"It's not like he hates the U.S. He's been here all his life. It's the only country he ever knew. Half the country doesn't agree with the president," Zayed Iraq said...

Dallas: Government to Deport Area Syrian for "Muslim Brotherhood" Ties
"U.S. Government to Deport Area Syrian for 'Muslim Brotherhood' Ties, Iraq Guerrilla Warfare Training," from CBS-11, with thanks to RSH:
In a rare public assertion, the U.S. government is citing an Arlington mans association with a secretive worldwide Muslim organization as grounds to deport him, CBS-11 has learned.
An altogether positive development. The Ikhwan -- the Brotherhood -- is the forefather of Hamas and Al-Qaeda. It is an organization that has been dedicated to the imposition of Sharia through violence.
In a Dallas immigration court, the government has openly argued that Syria-born Ahmed Barodi should be deported, in part, because of his membership in the Muslim Brotherhood, his participation in brotherhood-sponsored guerilla training in Iraq, and for smuggling fraudulent passports for the organization.
Barodis attorney and his wife would not respond to the allegations.
The Muslim Brotherhood is a violent religious, political and social order whose goal is the spread of strict Islamic law throughout the world. The secret Middle-east spawned radical movement, which has expanded throughout the U.S., has birthed several violent groups in recent decades that the U.S. has formally designated terrorist organizations, among them Al Qaida, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad.
I was wondering more along the lines of: destroy the society which produces these consumer goods....
I hope your day is going well.
I just heard a press conference
on Fox News.
Doesn't sound like a lot of info.
I'll check around today.
Yep, I bet he's talking, too.
I couldn't find the second suspect's name anywhere.
Or could it be they want to plan ahead on how to kill/eliminate physicians who would be working to save the injured in a large scale attack? They were visiting emergency room areas....why weren't these people arrested?
Most hospitals now have cameras which observe the hallways. Hoping they are working to find out who these folks are, exactly where they went, and then ARREST them for trespassing at the least.
Any one wandering around a hospital would be questioned by security...much more should have been done in this case than simply asking them to leave. There is a pattern here. This is occurring in other hospitals....
Dear Lord, complacency, apathy and willful ignorance can be killers. Some day the guy may shake the wrong briefcase.

"N.Y. Tie to Osama's No. 3 (al-Libbi in Contact w/ New York Operative)"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The No. 3-ranking al Qaeda terrorist whose capture was announced yesterday was in contact with New York operatives when he was on the run in Pakistan, sources said.
Abu Farraj al-Libbi a top general for Osama bin Laden had satellite phones and a "high-frequency wireless" with him when he was seized Monday night near the Afghan border, according to Pakistani intelligence.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly was briefed yesterday about the implications for the city."
THANKS KARL for the link.
Doesn't look like a happy camper.
THANK YOU all4one.
I tend to agree.
Being techno-challenged, I truly can't comprehend the EMP event.
What is the largest area range that an EMP can destroy?
Who has EMP capability?
Were the volkswagons taxis?
Yeah right...he's a good boy. Pffft.
ON THE NET...

~shaking my head at the rest of that CBS-11 report~
"Vicki Alkhatib, the American-born wife of another area Syrian and associate of Barodi, told CBS-11 she called the FBI after overhearing discussions that Barodis activities for the brotherhood were continuing.
They were talking about how he had ties with Al Quaida training, how he had been kicked out of every country he had been in for fraud, she said. What he had been trained for through the terrorist organization was documentation fraud.
Vicki Alkhatibs call to the FBI sparked an investigation into brotherhood activities in North Texas continues, sources tell CBS-11. Ironically, her husband, Abdulbari Alkhatib, was then detained on immigration charges and now also faces deportation with Barodi. Alkhatib came to the U.S. on a visitors visa years ago and overstayed it, accumulating several felony convictions along the way, records show.
Vicki Alkhatib said she believes her husbands willingness to help the FBI uncover terrorist connections in North Texas entitles him to a break."
Shaking my head, too....
