Never heard of 'bed bugs' when Tom Delay was on the job.

Jetsam is what sinks to the bottom when a ship breaks up, and conversely, flotsam is what floats. I have a few ancestors who were bigtime mariners.

Actually, jetsam is thrown overboard to lighten the ship during a storm (or, I suppose, containers that break loose and wash overboard ditto). Flotsam is floating stuff left over from a wreck. It makes a difference in admiralty law.

I was never a big time admiralty lawyer (too far from the ocean) but I did have a couple of admiralty cases awhile ago.

Now I lay me down to sleep
In mud that's fifty fathoms deep.
If I should die before I wake,
Hunt me with an oyster rake.

Yes bedbugs are usually brought in by a former occupant who has them at home. Mostly from bad sanitary habits on the part of the carrier.

They may also climb inside your suitcase during a hotel stay. I think one of the major economy hotel chains had a problem with this within the last couple of years.

An article discussing bedbugs was in Reader's Digest recently.

...I'm thinking that I won't be getting a gold star for that one. :-(
....

Hey, it's the American way and I'm not critical.

We know now to watch CSI or NCIS and wait for the day your usage becomes general throughout our society. As in Abby to Ducky " I DNA'd the specimen and it did not match the sample fron the crime scene."

American Mother, thank you for your correction of me, and I hope that (you,) Certified Horticulturist sees this--and that you both forgive my mistake.

Not as an excuse, but just to say that my speaking out of turn stems from my knowledge/distinction on/of flotsam/jetsam being taken from how my dad explained it to me as a girl. And I'm sure that it was me, not my dad, who misunderstood.

And I have to tell you an LOL. When we kids were little, my dad made a really neat, HUGE floating raft for us, for diving and for our motoring-around pleasure (he built a mount for a three and a half horse motor on the "back.") I'll tell you more about it, including the very funny name my dad dubbed it, via FReepmail. I guess this story really isn't yet an LOL. Sorry, I'll finish by mail. :-)

Bert, I know you weren't being critical. :-)

And EVERYONE is talking about those great CSI shows, but I have yet to watch one. Everyone says they're very good--interesting and enlightening. It's now on my list of what to watch. :-)

Have a good one, Bert. And thanks.

Why should you know, if you're not an admiralty type person? ;-)

Things my dad told me . . . in an effort to discourage me from a misguided cost-saving measure with a friend, that we would each pierce one ear and save half the price of a pair of earrings, he told me that only Gypsies and loose women pierced their ears.

He didn't really mean it, but I STILL can't bring myself to get my ears pierced . . .

Between the stories of intestinal distress and massive bed bug attacks, I have already taken all the cruises I will never take. Sounds like cruise ships are floating incubators for parasites.

Between bed bugs and the horrible flus that people keep getting, these cruise ships are sounding less like floating four-star hotels and more like flop houses adrift.

The unfortunate thing about the piece of finger and Wendy's is that I heard last night that they've thrown away something like 100,000 POUNDS of chili, because no one is buying it because of this lying scum!

I went to Wendy's yesterday and bought a baked potato and a cup of chili. Yum.

Let's all support Wendy's and show them that we aren't afraid to eat there. The negative publicity has done a lot of damage, unfairly, to Wendy's sales and their stock.

Thanks for posting what you did. You are correct - they want to test the DNA of the perpetrator's Mother. I keep hearing it was a "very manicured" piece of finger. Who cares for Pete's sake? Just debunk the story!!!!

or economic terrorism.
