Donald Trump Flips Dan Rather the Bird
NewsMax ^ | 4/11/05 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 04/11/2005 4:50:33 PM PDT by wagglebee

There's no love lost between Dan Rather and NewsMax readers, and 'The Donald' feels the same way.

Today on Howard Stern's radio show Donald Trump was Howard's guest.

Stern said he likes Trump because Trump is brutally honest. "I see you all over the place trashing Dan Rather," revealed Stern.

"Well, Dan was not too great," Trump replied, in the understatement of the new millennium.

"He had me on 60 Minutes, and he did nothing but be nice to me and he was great; then all of a sudden, at the end, he starts ... 'You're a vicious, horrible human being; Why?'"

Donald wondered, "Is this the same guy who was just so nice to me? He's just terrible. And you know, I never understood ... he got such bad ratings. How did a guy who was number three for years stay on the air?"

New York's biggest real estate developer could only come up with one reason: "I think he has something on the officials over at CBS."

Howard then asked if Trump had told Rather to his face "You are a scumbag."

"Many Times," replied Trump. "I would see him in (New York Yankee Owner) George Steinbrenner's box - I'd give him the finger about two feet away. People that were with me couldn't believe what was happening."

"What would he do?" asked Stern.

"He would do nothing. Then he'd call and say 'Donald, let's get together, let's have lunch' ... and I'd say 'No, Thank you,'"

"He would do everything possible to be nice, but it didn't matter, because when the game was on, he wasn't nice."

Trump said he didn't care what people say, or if they don't like him, but Rather "wasn't fair."

Stern said he feels the same way about Katie Couric, another icon of the liberally biased media, who, before Stern's exclusive interview with the Today Show for his movie, privately told Stern she loved him and loved his movie.

During the interview, though - in holier-than-thou fashion - she started in with Howard about being raunchy, indecent and all of the other ridiculous accusations constantly hurled at Stern, and peppered him about the FCC and his troubles with the commission.

Trump, star of NBC's "The Apprentice," sympathized, but was unapologetic. In fact, in a further revelation, Trump says he wants to do an "Apprentice"-type spinoff pitting 9 black contestants against 9 white contestants.

The entire liberal media establishment is currently shuddering, which is surely what 'The Donald' wanted.

I would give anything to see that! (And I don't even like Donald Trump)

Now that is a Mastercard moment.

Cab ride to Yankee Stadium: $25.
Tickets to see the Yankees: $100.
Getting to see Donald Trump flip off Dan Rather: Priceless

Allegedly Trump is a rich man. Whether he is or not, one thing is for sure--lower class behavior is not ameliorated by a great fortune.

There's a certain enjoyment in watching two low-life scum going at each other, hammer and tongs. Pass the popcorn.

No network, not even Aljazeera, would have the balls to carry this show.

Notice how Danny Boy never said these words to Saddam Hussein? Instead he cozied up to the tyrrant.

Maybe he has something BIG on Mike Wallace and Ed Bradley.

Trump is a business man, and so was Dan Rather, to a certain degree.

Donald Trump was on Dan's "60" to promote himself. Dan had Donald on his program in the hopes of attracting viewers. Dan added tension for dramatic effect. After letting his guard down, Trump realized he was played and didn't appreciate being mislead into an interview that would involve challenging questions, if not ad hominem attacks.

Both played the game and got what they wanted. Airtime. They deserve each other. No difference with Howard Stern.

Maybe he just doesn't want to be the subject of an Andy Rooney piece.

You're right, all these guys are media whores but I don't care. I think its cool that the Donald flipped off Dan. Dan was probably used to having people kiss his backside all of the time. What a shock it must have been for Danny boy when Trump flipped him off.

You know, this is BS. Trump has a stage. Unlike those of us who have figured Rather out that no one would listen to, Trump could have said something. But instead he (supposedly) chose to make obscene gestures at Yankee Stadium while others there were looking at the pitchers' mound. What a small person Trump is.

OK...lemme get this straight. Howard Stern -- who hates conservatives and Bush in particular (I can't think of anyone nastier towards Bush during the last campaign) is looked on favorably by Carl Limbacher simply because Trump bashes Rather on Stern's show. Does second-hand Rather bashing forgive all sins? Apparently it does.
