Outrageous Episode On US TV (PBS) by Jack Engelhard
PBS' Frontline, on the evening of Tuesday, April 5, presented "Settlers in Gaza and the West Bank", perhaps the most one-sided, lopsided view of Israel's settler movement as has ever appeared on American television. Only one conclusion: PBS is determined to stir passions of anti-Semitism and to help Palestinian Arabs in their dreams to destroy the Jewish state.
Of the entire 60-minute program (not PBS' finest hour), some 40 minutes were devoted to a bombing that never came off -- against an Arab school by Jewish "extremists". Actual bombings, by the thousands, that did come off, by Arabs against Jewish children -- these got a 10-second mention.
The program, with all its pretense of high-toned journalism, was advocacy at its worst; and it arrived in our comfortable living rooms here in America with the stench of an obscene phone call, or hate mail. This was an infomercial disguised as a documentary. The product? Judeophobia.
(It would be no surprise if the entire program was bought and paid for by the usual suspects; perhaps that clan of princes who, coincidentally, learned about telethons from PBS, and how money can be raised for anything, even to subsidize suicide bombers.)
The Frontline script, as narrated, constantly referred to the settlers as radicals and extremists, never so for the Arabs, except once, when the program showed the murder of an Israeli child. Nothing (except briefly, once or twice) about Arab terrorism. In fact, the word "terrorists" was used only in reference to the Jewish "settlers".
The words "terrorists" and "settlers" were connected so often (I counted 20) that clearly and transparently, mind-control was at work - let the masses depart from associating terror with radical Islam, and, through repetition, let it fall on the Jews. (Such repetition of the Big Lie was put to work for Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini.)
No effort was made by Frontline to provide balance or context, with the result amounting to a miscarriage of journalism.
Benefit of the doubt? Jihadists 100; Israelis, zero.
If you watched this show and did not know the situation, you would not know about the 1,500 Israelis murdered at the hands of Palestinian Arabs.
The report mentioned seven Arab casualties as the result of [alleged] acts by "radical settlers." Seven! This was the subtext of Frontline's report.
You would not know that two Jewish men who lost their way in Ramallah, and sought help in an Arab police station, were instead bludgeoned to death.
You would not know about the Passover Massacre, or of the pregnant Israeli mother, Tali Hatuel, who was murdered point-blank by an Arab terrorist - murdered, along with her four Jewish daughters.
You would only know that the "Jews" want "revenge" -- but for what, against whom?
It would have helped to be informed that the mood for "revenge" came only after the bloodshed let loose by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hizbullah and Fatah.
According to this Frontline report, no such organizations exist.
Watching all this, would you know that the PLO Covenant still calls for the annihilation of Israel, that virtually moments after (former) Prime Minister Ehud Barak offered the Palestinian Arabs more than 90 percent of the West Bank and a share of Jerusalem, the PLO instead launched its intifada - a campaign of terror stretching across the land and focusing on Israelis at their most vulnerable, at work or at play?
No, you would not know this, because none of it was mentioned, or even hinted at, on this program.
You would not know about the daily attacks still going on against Jews throughout Israel, many of which go unreported.
You would only know that Jews are terrorists and murderers.
Indeed, if you came from Mars, you would be surprised that 9/11 was the handiwork of radical Islam.
You would be sure it came from those settlers.
PBS now invites American viewers to enjoy further gluttony against Israel, and Jewish people everywhere, by getting more information on its website, frontline.org. You are also asked for donations, to continue PBS' slander and to further inflame Americans against religious Israelis.
You are also asked to join in for a discussion at that web site. This might be a good idea if good Jews and good Christians gather up to save the hearts and minds of all Americans toward Israel; for let's be straight, the enemies of Israel are the enemies of America, and that includes radical Islam and radical PBS.
PBS does well in presenting auction features, warmed-over British comedies, and "inspiration" hucksters; these especially when it seeks to raise money. Those are never much good, but they seldom turn ugly. Does PBS deserve so much as a penny next time its beg-a-thon comes around?
One more thing. This PBS Frontline program came but two days after C-Span 2 gave Holocaust denier David Irving his 15 Minutes of Fame, and more.
Whatever it is that's going on in Europe, it's coming here and it's coming fast. Beware of advertising and propaganda slickly packaged as news.
The Ya-Ya Sisterhood that runs the Philadelphia Inquirer is especially good at this.
Yes, it's war, and our battle is against those who wish to harm us by guns and by bombs, and those who wish to harm us by newsprint and by airwaves.

Sickening.
This is america...not the middle east. Worry about us for a while, eh?
What makes you think Dave is not worrying about us?
I saw the show----the radical Jew as devil would have been a good name for it.
I was a PBS member for 20 years but stopped about 5 years ago because of crap like this.
Does anyone actually watch PBS? Honestly, History channel, Discovery, Animal Planet are far better.
Bump for our allies.
Duh, why should they talk about arab terrorists? That isnt the reason that extremists in the settlement movement are attempting to bomb arabs and jews. It's because they BELIEVE that they were given that territory by God thousands of years ago. If there had never been an arab terrorist attack in the past fifty years, they would still feel the same. If the state of Israel wants to cede territory given to it by God, what then do these settlers have to say about it. Sharon agrees that these extremists (not all settlers by the way) are more dangerous than Hamas as they want the overthrow of the secular Israeli government and creation of a theocratic state.
Yes.
Truly sick-making.
Public funding should be revoked since PBS continues wasting tax dollars on TV shows for America's enemies.
I saw it. It wasn't necessarily one-sided. It was ABOUT a certain group of settlers who perpetrated terrorist acts, the worst of which was thwarted. If anything, I thought the show was an exoneration of the Jewish state in the matter of attacks against Palis. The followers of Rabbi Kahane are hardly mainstream Jews.
It wasn't anti-Israel in any way. It showed Israeli officials trying their best to contain a certain group of Jews who believe in terrorism and who are thus throwing a monkey wrench into the safety of the greater Israeli state.
FMCDH(BITS)
You mean to tell me there are still people who watch PBS? What for?
