This photograph was taken on a visit to Parris island in 2002, after 50 years from my time, teaching women recruits in classroom subjects during the Korean Conflict.
In the Dedidication Ceremony in 1952 for the Iwo Jima Monument (every dime for it paid for BY Marines) in front of which it was taken, I was the Guidon Bearer, carrying The American Flag, leading eight full companies of Marines. out front of it all, with our Company "A" Commander.
It was a *glorious* day and honor!!
(I even lost 20 lbs. since this was taken, back to fighting trim..:))
