Prayers for TexasCowboy!
TexasCowboy has been using his hip injury as an excuse to prevent his friends from shooting his new riot gun.
Well some of us offered to take a look at it for him and he decided both a proffesional and sober opinion might make more sense.
So he found a coupon and now he is going to let some old saw-bones cut on him.
Probably a better idea than letting us do it, but a few folks feelings are still hurt!
Please all say a prayer for our Cowboy that he is back in the saddle again real soon.
Yer stories always Rock!
Keep it up!
Boys will be boys..Bump!
Prayers for TC, Faith and family.
Timely, 'cause I just posted 'summore' stories at The Finest
in response to the topic being Labor Day and our work histories - - - Here - - ..:))
I do love that story. Although I think you are trying to test or confuse this old cat. F-2, F-4 ? Then I figured out you probably meant the F-102:
And maybe the F-104:
Although since the F-104 did not have an internal weapons bay (It was armed with the M-61 Vulcan Gatling cannon, and sidewinder missiles) You might have meant the F-106 which was really just a developed F-102, but it was indeed faster. The F-104 was a lot faster, but short legged.
Of course your second story reminds me of a story as well. This one from a guy who was a Major when I first met him. (He had other stories, but they weren't suitable for this forum :) ) He was a navigator on a prop driven cargo aircraft. Flying it from Da Nang to CCK (on Taiwan, where they had some maintenance work done).
They had been instructed to fly as close as they felt comfortable to Hainin Island, which is and was Red Chinese. (It's where the P-3 landed after the Chinese jet ran into it).
Well a Chinese MIG clone came up and formed on them. They were looking at him, he was looking at them. The navigator flipped the MIG pilot the bird, the old one fingered salute. The MIG then pealed off, flew behind the transport and made a high speed pass from aft to forward, then turned around and made another from front to back. Then the MIG formed up on them again. The pilot looked over at them, and gave them the "Roman salute" (slap left hand on right bicep, with right elbow at a right angle, upper arm horizontal and in front of the body palm inwards with fist clenched. IOW "Up Yours!".
As for the gaffe in nomenclature, you'll have to cut me some slack, flyboy...going to bed at 0200, I was restless, and tossed until 0400 when it finally broke throgh the fog I was having an insulin reaction - up until 0530 and out of bed at 0900..add to that bad hands and blurred vision, and dropping the "10" parts of the numbers was just another wrinkle of the day.
Had to wait unti my hubby woke from a nap to check, and I was correct.
You said: "Although since the F-104 did not have an internal weapons bay (It was armed with the M-61 Vulcan Gatling cannon, and sidewinder missiles)"-
and the F-104 WAS right - it was his sidewinder missile rack he lowered for the benefit of the Russian pilot.
Maggie,
I'm prepared to cut you as much slack as you need, anytime you need it.
BTW, that's "Wing Wiper" not "flyboy" I was non rated. (20-300 or so at that time :( ) R&D and procurement engineer, and later technical intelligence. But I've been an airplane freak ever since I can remember. I remember watching Air Force recruitment films at the state fair, over and over, when I was just barely old enough to be allowed to cross the street from the horse barns, and to be by myself. (Another time and place, I wouldn't allow a kid half again my age to be alone at the fair now, even though the fair is no bigger now than then, and it's in the same physical location, although a week later in the year).
It was even before your Alaska adventures. Let's see they had an Edsel on display in that same building.... hmm, I guess that would make it 1958 or '59 (Edsel was introduced in September of '57 but I kinda doubt they had one at the Nebraska fair that year and canceled in November of '59). I would have been two months shy of 9 or 10.
See Post #5,967 ...Cowboy....we have GOT to start praying harder for you! We love you SO much!!!
Thanks for the ping and update.
Prayers on the way
I'm here, on bended knee. Thanks, Nana and Logan, for the update.
Prayers on the way for TC. He's been through so much. Praying that he gets well soon.
Oh, my goodness....I was thinking of TC tonight...wondering what his take would be on all of the "foreigners" coming for an extended stay in Texas...
Ah..well...I will save it for later when he feels better. I am sure the hurricane people will be here when he gets back to Faith's house.
God, please help TC...he has been through so much.
Prayers up, TC...for you and Faith and all.
