I've read some of the related articles and it seems like their fathers called police to deal with their actions, i.e. prevent an elopement in one case, and that the FBI decided that being a devout Muslim teenager makes you a terrorist.
I know a lot of my Christian friends went through a resurgence of faith while in their teens and none of them became zealots. What the hell are we coming to that a teenage girl can be held in another state, without any proof, without a lawyer, because her father is overprotective and crazy? These are the kinds of trials, by the way, that you don't get any sort of evidence or charges against you. These are the guilty until proven innocent type. The family has been threatened with deportation unless the girls "confess" since the family is there illegally. Gee, so if the girls "confess," they'll be allowed to stay in the country? Sounds strange to me.

I reckon they are both of Bangladeshi background. Bangladesh, nee East Pakistan, is a majority Muslim country, which has had very pro PRC quasi Marxist governments ever since becoming independent of Pakistan.

Lost is a good moniker. Your post only vaguely relates factually to the article.
One question, why join on April 3 when this is what you post?

Federal authorities have detained two New York City teenage girls on immigration violations If the girls had immigration violations, what about the parents/siblings?

You don't really have rights when you are under 18. Your parents are responsible.

Sin Yen Ling, a lawyer with the Asian American Legal Defense Fund, who is attempting to assist the Bangladeshi girl's mother, confirmed that girl's mother and two of three siblings were ordered deported in February 1999 after an immigration judge denied their asylum request. Looks to me like they have been living here 6 years longer than they should have.
I was not able to find anything that backs up your claim that The family has been threatened with deportation unless the girls "confess" since the family is there illegally. Gee, so if the girls "confess," they'll be allowed to stay in the country?
You also say "What the hell are we coming to that a teenage girl can be held in another state, without any proof, without a lawyer, because her father is overprotective and crazy?
Citizens of other nations should have no protections under US law. Show these criminals the door. Kick them out of the country or send them somewhere they will be miserable. Like Yonkers....

Yeah, better to be safe and wait until after potential terrorists have struck, then prosecute them. Or what's left of them.

Personally I find something fishy with this case. First of all I doubt there was any collusion among the two young ladies, one from Bangladesh and the other from Africa. Just as a side thought Bangladeshis are in general not fanatical Muslims....have no idea what goes on in Guinea. Really would like to hear more about this case.

The sources said the parents of one of the girls had gone to police to complain about her. One official said investigators were concerned the girls could be recruited for a suicide mission, so they were detained on immigration charges."The girls were already part of an investigation. When the parents came forward with their complaints, it was more of two things coming together," said one law enforcement official.

The report that you linked to sounds like a PR piece straight from both families. I thought for a minute that I was reading a CAIR email update.
Various news agencies have reported that both girls resided in NY at one time so it isn't out of the realm of possibility that they knew each other .
Since the US is being tight lipped you are basing your opinion by PR statements by the families. It's rare to have a family say "whoops we have been busted".
