A Knox County teacher is back on the job after making a pre-school student relieve herself in a bucket in front of other students.
It happened in early March to a little girl at the Sam E. Hill Family Community Center.
Sheila Knight was put on leave while the school system looked into the allegations.
DCS also investigated and found no evidence of abuse.
Knight later admitted to the accusations, called it "a severe lapse in judgment," and got a strong written reprimand. School officials say that was the strongest punishment allowed at the time.
Knight, who has worked for Knox County Schools for almost 20 years, is back on the job.
The student is in another classroom.

This doesn't sound like a statement from somebody that "used" to homeschool their children. You wouldn't be pulling our leg on that would you?
Nice snide use of quotes, by the way.
No, I'm not pulling your leg. But your apparent disbelief that I could hold this opinion is rather telling, since it shows you can only consider a very narrow range of possible scenarios.
Didn't you infer anything from the educational progression I discussed earlier? In our case, it was never about money, and it was ALWAYS about trying to provide the best education. We have never abdicated our role as primary educators of our children, and instillers of values. Perhaps if I were the one to stay at home, homeschooling might have been an option for longer (not that I don't put in at least an hour a day supplementing the school instruction) - but since I need to be the breadwinner, that wasn't really plausible. It's not really your business exactly why, but my wife did it for as long as she could, then we put them in a private Christian school, where she still stayed involved.
When we started running into academic roadblocks there, we looked into a number of other schools, public and private, decided on one particular public school, moved into that district, and I have again stayed involved at the school. In short, I'm pretty comfortable with having lived up to the standard set by Proverbs. I'm sorry you don't agree - but then again, you don't need to.

You're correct. I don't need to. I sincerely pray that your decisions work out well for you. It sounds like you are aware of the "sharks in the water".

BTW...I misread your "hellish indoctrination" comment from your ealier post and need to apologize. I thought that it said something that it didn't.

The "data" you have is most likely less than impressive to anyone who actually understands statistics. But even if it is as you say it is because of the difference in input to the educational process.
Are you shocked that children with two concerned parents deeply involved in their lives turn out better prepared for life than those with a crack ho for a mom and no dad in sight?
Try comparing them to MY children.

It isn't published that way in the King James Bible which says Kill.
To: politicket
No your INTERPRETATION as to the applicability of that quote does NOT come from the Lord. Sin of Pride?

You're forgiven, as I hope I am for the "heretic" post.

The data is highly impressive to me and statistics happens to be one of my areas of expertise.
And, I agree to your quote: "...it is because of the difference in input to the educational process".
That was a well stated summation of homeschooling.
BTW...I'm not going to compare my homeschooled children to your children since it would be too personal. However, let me caution you...be careful what you ask for unless you know that you can deliver.

Wisdom is better than strength.
Nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised,
And his words are not heard.
17Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard
Rather than the shout of a ruler of fools.
18Wisdom is better than weapons of war;
But one sinner destroys much good."

I don't hold anything posted by anyone in a personal way.
I like to debate and challenge ideas and hope that all of us would come away having "learned a little something".

So where are the Abu Ghraib whiners? Anyway, I think the reprimand was a bit too harsh. The teacher should sue for millions.
Another Democrat voter that is being profiled for no apparent reason at all. The Teachers Union and the ACLU will be on the case in no time flat. It is great to see the mistreated liberals are using Sandy Burglars line of...."lapse of judgment". It will become as standard as "I did not have sex with that woman". And we see where that has led us with 1 out of 4 middle schoolers giving knurling's at will.

BS......this is ridiculous and insane....
you start early with kids teaching them modesty and the fact that their "private parts" are afterall, private....
I suppose you would feel differant if the child had to have a BM in front of others....
geesh.....where's the common sense anymore.....

Then pack up the car and move to Kentucky. It is more important that children be raised in a family environment with one parent at home, then to be able to go to the beach each day. Once past a certain age, kids should be in social environments with other kids. It is unhealthy for kids to contantly spend their time with adults.

Any married couple can make it on a husband's income if so inclined. I would challenge you to give me one example of a family where the father is both sane and not severely handicapped that absolutely cannot survive on his income.Survive? Maybe. For some people, that's about all they can do on one salary.

There is no other perspective that has any meaning to it whatsoever. Nonsense. The Bible is just another old book, no better than the Koran or any other holy book.

I have....three....
and going to the BR with little brother or sister in the room is NOT the same as having them do it in front of relative strangers....
every child knows , if taught properly, that bathroom activities are private, not a social event....
kids at home don't gather around the john to watch each other, why on earth is this encouraged among kids not even related to one another....
I am sure there has been no permanent harm done here, but I can't see defending this for anything other than what it is......a idiotic and unthinking action probably because the teacher didn't want to be inconvenienced....
