Teacher forces preschooler to relieve herself in front of other students

A Knox County teacher is back on the job after making a pre-school student relieve herself in a bucket in front of other students.

It happened in early March to a little girl at the Sam E. Hill Family Community Center.

Sheila Knight was put on leave while the school system looked into the allegations.

DCS also investigated and found no evidence of abuse.

Knight later admitted to the accusations, called it "a severe lapse in judgment," and got a strong written reprimand. School officials say that was the strongest punishment allowed at the time.

Knight, who has worked for Knox County Schools for almost 20 years, is back on the job.

The student is in another classroom.

I do exactly that. The secondary education they receive at the public school. Why is that so hard for you to understand? So you're saying that you spend MORE time with your children (one-on-one) then the public school does each weekday? I find that difficult, unless you work from home and stop working in the afternoons.

Don't kid yourself, the schools believe that it is THEIR job to teach children about acceptance, tolerance, etc. And, if a child gets pregnant it becomes THEIR job to transport that child to the local abortion mill WITHOUT that child's parents having an knowledge whatsoever.

I'm absolutely saying that I spend more one-on-one time with my children than anybody else, except maybe my wife. Don't forget, a public school is made up of teachers, and they're one-on-25. I make it a point to know them all, and I have requested a different teacher in the past when I found one who was peddling pablum instead of problem sets.

But using your interpretation and logic, BOTH parents should stay home to teach the kids.

Oh, I don't kid myself. I'm ever vigilant on these issues. We're in a fairly conservative school district, but that hasn't stopped me from making sure they're not involved in any "family life" education or the like.

But, I forgot, you would rather believe that I'm naive and willingly putting my kids through a hellish indoctrination, rather than believe that there could possibly be any way to extract any good out of any public school. It somehow seems very important for you to believe that, even when it has to do with MY children.

It does nothing of the kind. It does declare that parents must be teaching their children whenever they are in their presence but does not demand that parents ALWAYS have their children in their presence.

Actually, homeschooled children are more knowledgeable, in all sujects, than their peer group in the public schools. Not bad for parents that have no formal training as "teachers".

Not only are homeschooled children more knowledgeable, but they are, on average, 2 to 3 grade levels ahead of their peers and score much higher on standarized tests (20 to 30 points).

Homeschool children are taught to be leaders in society and are statistically 18 times as active in politices upon high school graduation than their peers.

Shall I go on.... ?

This doesn't sound like a statement from somebody that "used" to homeschool their children. You wouldn't be pulling our leg on that would you?

Well, maybe not so much as their "comfortable lifestyles" as an impatience to "make it". There's a young couple in our congregation who lived in a nice mobile home here in town, three bedrooms, paid off, modest, but clean. The dad was/is pretty driven to have the best/biggest even though he works inspection in an aerospace factory. It pays ok, but he ain't an attorney. He bought the 50" TV, then he had to have the 4x4 dually truck, then his $8.50 mailroom clerk wife had to have the Camry. Then he had to buy a "economy car" so he didn't wear out his truck. Then he had to get an RV to live in because they sold the mobile home that they had finally paid off and it would be several months until their home was ready THAT they bought out here in a booming market 120 miles away from their worksites (besides the new house had RV access, dontcha know), 5 bedrooms, three people, for $700,000 using all the money they had left. Because he HAD TO HAVE a garage. Combined family income of about $62,000 and they both drive 1.5 hours ONE WAY to work. Then they bought all new furniture. And the first cell bill from the teenager's phone was $850 as she desperately tried to stay connected with her friends she left 120 miles away. Nearly bankrupted them.

I just don't get it. So "THING" driven. When I retire, I'm living on a boat with my dog.
