I believe most Americans, even self-avowed liberals, are more moral-minded than the MSM would like us to believe.

I can only state everyone that has approached me about Terri has been sickened by what occured. Someone just today railed against the Judiciary's will being stronger than both of the other branches that defended this woman's life. And he's typically a Democrat in voting pattern.
IMO, there is a real downside to the MSM faking opinions on this matter. Aside from the role it played in brining about a woman's Death. It leads people to believe their position is stronger or weaker than it may be, and they operate off of this false presumption. If you do what is right, 8 out of 10 you'll be rewarded no matter what the "polls" forecast.
Many people I work with were not phased at all by Terri's starvation death; in fact, they were practically happy about it. Scary.

The survey did find overwhelming consensus, however, when the question turned to government intervention in cases where basic civil rights were being denied. Three-quarters (74%) of likely voters say that it is proper for the federal government to intervene in such a case; just one-in-five (19%) disagree.
Guess killing disabled people doesn't register as a basic civil rights issue. This is most troubling to say the least.
I can report the same here. Everyone who has said anything about Terri to me, including people that normally don't pay attention to anything,( political or otherwise) said they were sickened, shocked, and frightened, by what happened to Terri.
It's nice to see a poll with more realistic results. I was losing faith in my fellow man.
I hope the politician's see this, so they don't wimp out about addressing the very, very, serious issues that have been raised by Terri's tragedy.

Personally, I am still mystified as to why polls should be relevant when moral absolutes are in question.
Polls are for things like your favorite flavor of ice cream or what kind of car you drive, not decisions of life and death.
Actually, the numbers were pretty much consistent, because the fluctuations (for the most part) were taking place within the margin of error. Those who say "polls don't vote, people do" are always proven wrong. Kerry basically shot himself in the foot again and again, and that's why Bush began gaining momentum.
Getting back to the Terri Schiavo case, here's one part of that poll, which I found disturbing:
Elected officials should intervene to protect a disabled person's right to live if there is conflicting testimony concerning removing a feeding tube?
38% Agree
54% Disagree
Going by the results of this poll, then, people think it's OK to intervene on behalf of the civil rights of anyone...provided they're not disabled. In which case, let 'em rot....

O'Reilly has shown his true colors. When he comes on the tv or radio, I can not get to the knob to switch his 'spin' off fast enough.

The ones who have been a majority of the entire government, federal and state, for years and years and years--and who have yet to take a stand worthy of the support we have given them? Reagan said it best--government is the problem. If you think you still have a constitution, try to pray where ever you want, carry a gun where ever you want, or criticize a sitting politician however you want. The central government is in a mopping up operation. We're only a few years away from the constitution itself being declared unconstitutional. This aint about judicial tyranny. All three branches figured it out long ago--the executive and the legislative, by their inaction, create a power vacuum for the unelected to fill. Everyone's happy. The American sheeple are catatonic and fat, and all three branches are impervious to criticism. Congresspersons are re-elected 96% of the time. They are immune. Judges--immune. The president--all but useless anyhow, because only a rare gem like Reagan can get anything done. The entire government is entrenched, and they throw us stupid fights like memo scandles to keep us partisan while they use our support to destroy us. Terri's murder shows one thing only--the entire government is against us.
