"Turned out the biggest need was for water buffalo's."

It was amazing, how so many thousands of young people walked for several miles in the hot, dry Denver weather to hear the Pope at Cherry Creek state park. They saw it as a pilgrimage. Many of them passed out.

I think the walk was from downtown to the park, and I've been trying to find confirmation, but I think it's around 15 or 16 miles.

Yep, in a blistering heat. We wound up being dispatch and were pulling in water tanks and medical people from all over the state, within reasonable distance. IIRC about 20,000 people were treated. It was a long day...
