I am not sure if someone asked for a divorce - but the Shindlers did request that Micheal be removed as the guardian because he was with Jodi. Greer denied the request. That speaks volumes for what Greers opinion of Terri's rights were. Of all the people most responsible for this it was Greer. He acted in despicable ways. He not only should have removed Micheal as guardian but he should have given Terri an automatic divorce based on Michael adulterous relationship with Jodi. Had he done so none of this would have happened. Unfortunately that was the type of law the Fl Senate should have passed the first time her tube was removed. It would have been impossible to find that unconstitutional.

I agree completely about the legislature passing that law when the issue first arose. It was obvious that Greer didn't want to do the right thing for Terri, but I don't know whether the law allowed him simply to dissolve the marriage. Not being able to dissolve the marriage shouldn't have kept him from appointing another guardian. If the Florida legislature had passed that law letting her parents sue for a divorce on her behalf, then the whole situation might have been changed. One of the best things would have been if the divorce proceedings had been assigned to another judge. That would have been the beginning of an opportunity to extract her from under the power of Greer and Michael Schiavo.
