Dr. Cyril H. Wecht, the well-known forensic pathologist and coroner of Allegheny County, Pa., told listeners of a morning radio show that he was denied permission to observe Terri Schiavo's autopsy, despite the wishes of her parents.
A medical examiner in Pinellas County, Florida, is conducting an autopsy that could help determine what Schiavo's state of consciousness was and whether she was abused by her husband, as the Schindlers allege. Wecht, appearing on the syndicated America's Morning Show with Quinn and Rose, based in Pittsburgh, said that an investigator working for the Schindler's law firm had called him on Thursday to see whether he would be agreeable to observing the autopsy.
Dr. Wecht told Quinn and Rose he was certainly be agreeable to that, but that several hours later he received word that the medical examiner had declined to give him permission.
Dr. Wecht told the morning hosts that he considered this a mistake, according to Rose Somma Tennent. "He said that, if this were in [his] office, [he] would have said sure - not just because of professional courtesy, but because of the controversy sourrounding this case," Somma Tennet said.
Calls made during the show to the medical examiner's office were not returned.
The results from the autopsy are expected in a few weeks.
In that case, I'm glad they locked him out.
I also heard today that the DFCS records will not be made available to the media by order of the judge.
Surprise, Surprise, Surprise......NOT!
bttt
No, MS didn't request it, but he did say he would let the autopsy take place.
As Rush pointed out today, it is Florida State law that an autopsy be done before a cremation.
Rush then said that since MS came out and said he would "allow" the autopsy to take place, it makes him look a little better.
He had nothing to do with it proceeding, he just announced that he did, to fool a lot of people.
I am familiar with Dr. Wecht...he's a pompous ass who loves to get his name and his face all over the media. In fact, I think I just saw him on CNN or one of the other media outlets a few days ago speculating about what kind of autopsy would be performed on Mrs. Schiavo. I don't know the Pinnellas County ME, but it could be that he knows Dr. Wecht, or knows of his reputation for grandstanding, and he is concerned that the doctor's presence would just add to the circus. And frankly on that point, I wouldn't blame him for barring Dr. Wecht from the autopsy, if that is what happened.
Guns don't change colors.
I agree with you entirely: "The county medical examiner, well known by felos and greer and the sheriff's dept., had BETTER NOT JUST DO A PARTIAL AUTOPSY.
Top Neurologist's Report on Terri Released: (Snip)
http://newsmax.com
"Spinal Exam: The patient's exam from a spinal perspective is abnormal. The degree of limitation of range of motion, and of spasms in her neck, is consistent with a neck injury. The abnormal sensory exam, that shows evidence of her hypoxic encephalopathic strokes (right side sensory responses are different from left) also suggests a spinal cord injury at around the level of C4. Her physical exam and videotapes also suggest a spinal cord injury is also present, as she has much better control over he face, head, and neck, than over her arms and legs. This reminds one of a person with a spinal cord injury who has good facial control, but poor use of arms and legs. It is possible that a correctable spinal abnormality such as a herniated disk may be found that could be treated and result in better neurological functioning. This should be looked for, as may be treatable. Thus, there may be an injured disk or spinal cord; the disk injury is more treatable, the spinal cord injury, if present without a disk injury, may be more difficult to treat. A person with a spinal cord injury and hypoxic encephalopathy will need different treatment and rehab recommendations than one who just has a hypoxic encephalopathic.
Interestingly, I have seen this pattern of mixed brain (cerebral) and spinal cord findings in a patient once before, a patient who was asphyxiated."
I commend your actions in e-mailing the actual bone scan report to both Dr. Thogmartin's office and to Dr. Pellan's office.
TERRI HAD A SPINAL INJURY. WE WANT TO KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED.
Has anyone started to wonder just why a woman who was not terminal was in a hospice?
Hospice is supposed to be used only for 6 months by the terminally ill, not for 5 years as happened here.
This hospice apparently owes $14 million to the govt.
There's a lot of fishy stuff going on here.
And we want a full investigation top to bottom. Word is the whole circuit down there is corrupt.
Oh, it's absolutely a coverup.
If Michael Schiavo's "people" have control over the autopsy, I expect nothing different from what I've seen to date: a complete effort by the medical people to attempt to exonerate his desires to off Terri.
The truth hasn't stood in the way of the M. Schiavo camp yet.

Of course, of course.
Why did all you Scientology shills join FR to spread your euthanasia propaganda?
Shouldn't you and your buddy Felos be at the center getting an E-meter reading or something?
I understand that the autopsy is finished and only Michael will know the report. Correct me if I am wrong.

I haven't found the above on any mainstream site. Fox says this:
"The Pinellas County medical examiner's office said an autopsy of Terri Schiavo's body had been completed. Results will not be released for weeks."
I thought Pinellas Park was run by Kenneth City.
As for not allowing her parents' coroner, it is obvious he is afraid that the truth might come out.
There have been countless acts of sadism performed by him, some incredibly petty - all revealing what a horrible person he is.
