absolutely brilliant. Thanks for posting that
Matthew 8:5 As he entered Caper'na-um, a centurion came forward to him, beseeching him 6 and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, in terrible distress." 7 And he said to him, "I will come and heal him." 8 But the centurion answered him, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." 10 When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, "Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.

I truly wish he were rallying. It would mean we would likely have more months/years of light in which to do good works.
But he's not and won't.
And, as I understand it--gave explicit orders about not prolonging the process. And even not praying for a prolongedlife when it was his time to go.

Seems some hate Jews because the Jews killed Jesus, of course there were no Christians then and the early ones were previously Jews, so I don't get it. Some of the hatred toward Catholics seems to be because they claim to be the true church of Christ, but that claim seems to be historically correct, so I don't get that one either. I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't get it.

Is anyone else watching FNC??? I cannot believe how bad the interviewing has gotten... I really like this channel but between Shepard Smith having an "off day" to say the least Linda Vester could not sound more like a high school girl interviewing the dean of students.... it is awful, what a shame...

The Pope (John Paul II) is Christ's Vicar on earth. I have read this whole thread and nobody has either mentioned that or explained it yet, so I can't blame you. It seems a little odd that hundreds of posts under the title of the Pope can be posted and his office is not yet qualified in the way I was taught in first grade catechism class. Strange times, indeed.
The Vicar of Christ, inherently, cannot be the Lord. You are confusing the nature of being to say the one who is represented becomes the representative. When Jesus returns, the Pope will be no longer necessary, nor will be the sacraments. When we have Jesus in person what need will there be for those tools the Church has given for our life in the Faith?
Perhaps we should leave this for another time, and let's just talk here about JPII, Christ's Vicar on earth.

Since the thread you started for debate and discussion was pulled, may I offer another solution?
I moderate at another forum, a Christian forum, and when thing get a little too heated for the forum and posters want an arena that is less stringent on rules of debate and decorum, I usually suggest they take it to a private forum they set up themselves.
There are lots of free one's available, though often the formats leave a lot to be desired.
That might be a remedy at this time.

Firstly Jesus was a Jew so it is stupid to hate the Jews (actually it is stupid to hate). Secondly I think people get upset when it is suggested that only Catholics are saved.

ummm, the stupidity of comparing April Fool's Day with the day our Holy Father passed.... that needed explaining?? It most certainly did. I have not said one thing untoward about the Pope. And how dare you call me stupid. I was responding to another poster about April 1st. You need to take that hostility somewhere else and not direct it at me where it's uncalled for. Go in peace.

I try to avoid passing judgment about what others feel led to pray.
Just my understanding that the Pope himself requested that people not pray for him to linger when it was his time to go. He wanted instead that we pray for a smooth and speedy passing into The Lord's hands--if my understanding is right.

OK, I'll go with that. I'll support that idea. I was hoping to get it away from any rancorous debate and flaming at such a dark time as the Pope's demise. Thanks again.
