Think of how many millions are hearing it for the first time. Beautiful.

"Don't let Judge Greer hear anything about this, or it's pull the feeding tube for JPII.'

Well, I think that's a bit unecessary for this thread!!!

How fitting that the rosary meditations for today are the Mysteries of Light (for non-Catholics, the Holy Father added these meditations in 2002).

If anyone has a photo I have seen of a younger John Paul (priest days) wearing a brown scapular outside his shirt would you please post it or Freepmail me? Thanks much if anyone can help me find it.

But he could learn a bit of discretion now and then. Note his abysmal ad-libbing on the Rosary about five minutes ago. . .

Shep's doin' a pretty good job, considering he's not Catholic.

You folks need to lighten up a bit on these guys.

This is wonderful, the Gospel, the Our Father and Hail mary are being said on National TV!

our media is such buzzards; it is clear he is going soon if not already, can't they give the minute-by-minute thing a break?

I feared the ghoulish 24-hour cable death watch when the pope's death became imminent. An "accident" like this wasn't hard to imagine. Absolutely shameful.

I really am not buying it. First of all, what I love about the Vatican is that they have no respect for the media - We find out about things when they decide we should know - and the Vatican has their own procedures and rites before the formal announcement of a Pope's death. Secondly, is it not suspicious that they've decided to gather as many Catholic faithful as they could in St. Peter's to do a rosary?

Although I disagree adamantly with the decisions made, I think you are seeing "conspiracies" where none exist. Not all see what you see....nor does everything that happens, including the ending of this phase of the Pope's life, necessarily need to be viewed thru the TS lens. That is bordering on obsession, imo. And just my opinion.

I think we will hear from the Gipper one more time. I expect that he and Thatcher each recorded eulogies for the other..

ME: Note his abysmal ad-libbing on the Rosary about five minutes ago

YOU: What was he saying?

FROM MY POST #385 -

Shep re: Rosary - "In short, lots of people coming together to pray for good stuff . . . " Oh, for Pete's sake!

Then, finally wised up and asked his Catholic priest guest to describe the Rosary

Nope, back to "Rosary is a chain of beads, containing five decades, ten Hail Marys, ten Our Fathers and Glory Bes . . . all the things we've been talking about."

It would be funny if not so disgraceful.

This is what the thread is about, period:

Newly-elected Pope John Paul II raises his arms in greeting the crowd from the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City in this Oct. 16, 1978 file photo

Have they gathered them or did the crowd gather on its own after the reports? I don't know which is the case, but the latter is a possibility.
