Two Marine Divisions and Two Army Divisions. In fact the invasion of the Rykuyus had begun a week earlier with an Army only landing on one of the outer islands. Thgat landing was strongly opposed but the KIA ratio was something like 80 US to 650 Japanese.

Today is also my 36th anniversary of the day I was released from Active duty in the Marine Corps. March 8th was my 40th anniversary of Joining the Marine Corps. Semper Fi

Today is the 60th Anniversary of the ARMY going ashore on Okinawa.

Red 6 and team provided the tank support , before the first riflemen went in. M1s and Brads. .GOT SOME!
