Their standard mantra is that "a woman has a right to make decisions about her own body.".....nevermind that Michael Schaivo said over and over again throughout the first 5+ years of Terri's hospitalization, that he had no idea of what she wanted.
Only after he won the two sums ($750K and another $300+K) did he suddenly recall that she had clearly said that she "didn't want any tubes........" to prolong her life.
But the "feminazis" have to stick to their abortion agenda which is supported by that very tired old theme about a woman's right to decide things concerning her own body. For N.O.W. and other liberal feminist groups, plus George Felos (Hemlock Society member), Terri's fondest wish concerning her disabled body was to get out of it a.s.a.p. - to abort herself as an adult.
It's the IWWLLT syndrome. I wouldn't want to live like that.
The people who came out the strongest on Terri's side are those who are disabled. All four major associations for the disabled came out on her side. They didn't get any attention because they didn't fit the template.
Then the media asks "The Question" "Would you want to live like that?" As a question it falls in the category of "have you stopped beating your wife?" There is no way you can give a correct answer. But if you rephrased it. "Could you adapt to living like that and still find some joy in life?" you get quite a different answer. A more honest answer.
Nobody wants to be anything but young, strong, healthy and beautiful. But we adapt. We enjoy life. It is still good and sweet.
The problem in this entire sad situation was that the right questions were never asked.
Unfortunately, I heard today that he's protected from suit - forget the why's of it. But they certainly have all their ducks in a row.
And I think it better to pursue a "Terri's Law" - put the energy and time into something positive.
HINO will get his. He's already afraid to go out in public - even before the death threats, he was getting shunned. His face is known everywhere and he is also, I've read, 6'6 or 7"...so unless he walks on his knees, he will stick out loud and clear.
And Terri wont be forgotten. If we all work on "Terri's Law" to change corrupt laws, to cut the activist judges off at the knee, etc. Her face will front and center everywhere. There is no escape for the POS, michael.
And I imagine there'll be some real bad karma catching up with him. He'll be watching over his shoulder the rest of his life.
