TRANSCRIPT Updated: 4:04 p.m. ET March 29, 2005 The overwhelming majority in the medical community say Terri Schiavo has close to no brain activity and has no chance of regaining awareness. Dr. Ronald Cranford, who actually examined Terri Schiavo in 2002 and testified to her condition, joined "The Abrams Report" on Monday. Cranford is the assistant chief of neurology at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis as well as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota's Center for Bioethics. Below is the transcript of their conversation.
DAN ABRAMS, HOST: You're one of the few people who has actually examined Terri Schiavo and you're hearing all of these people who are coming on from the sidelines saying, "She's has been misdiagnosed," et cetera. How confident are you in your diagnosis and why?
DR. RONALD CRANFORD, UNIV. OF MN NEUROLOGIST: I'm extremely confident. I think at the time of the trial in 2002 there had been eight neurologists who examined her. And of those eight neurologists total, seven of them said beyond any doubt whatsoever Terri is in a vegetative state. Her CT scan shows severe atrophy or shrinkage of the brain. Her EEG is flat and there's absolutely no doubt that she's been in a permanent vegetative state ever since 1990. There's no doubt whatsoever, Dan.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, there will be no good outcome from this whole episode.
Interesting. Thank you for posting this.
Dr. Jon Thogmartin, the medical examiner chosen by Felos/Schiavo to perform the autopsy, was appointed to his current position by Gov. Jeb Bush in 2000 for a three year term and reappointed in 2003. He reports to the Pinellas County Board of Commissioners, the same commission of which Greer was a commissioner prior to assuming judicial office.
Who is the "respected neurologist" to whom you refer?
Certainly not the notorious euthanasia champion Dr. Ronald Cranford! This is a man who most certainly has a horse in this race, and cannot possibly give an unbiased diagnosis or evaluation.
Your point?
Did you look at the scan? Can't you see the atrophy?
Left: CT scan of a normal 25 year old; Right, Terri Schiavo's most recent scan

Look at post 7. You can see the difference between a normal brain and Terri's brain.
It is pretty clear.
"Dr. Ronald Cranford, who actually examined Terri Schiavo in 2002 and testified to her condition"
When Dr. Cranford was on Hannity & Colmes last week, Hannity nailed him on two things he's claimed in the past, even when he tried to wiggle away from answering.
1. Did you once say people in a vegetative state have no constitutional rights?
2. Did you once say it's a waste of time to hook a feeding tube to someone with Alzheimers?
After some wrangling about, he finally admitted he did indeed write such things in an article and then tried to justify it.
"ABRAMS: Doctor, I mean you hate to say it but that's just a father wishful thinking, isn't it?
CRANFORD: I hate to say it but it's a father wishful thinking."
Leading?
I hate to say it but the
Right to Privacy = Right to Commit Murder
Yep. A very pro-death speaker for the Hemloch society. A kill the useless eaters guy.
Also, the autopsy is to be done by a man chosen by Michael and his lawyer!!!! See post #3 !!!!
I always thought that any expert who testified could not have any baggage that might indicate he (or she) had an opinion on what the outcome should be. His prior activism is certainly such BAGGAGE. Can't the Schindler's appeal that he is a biased witness based on his activism?

Her frontal lobe is still all there. That's the conscience mind. She may be alive and well in her mind, but unable to connect with her body. How frightening!
The brain works similar to a hologram. When certain areas of the brain are damaged, other areas ofter pick up the slack.
The scans posted are very clear. What do you all have to say about that?
I noticed you all ignored them and decided to try and bash the doctor instead.
The facts are right there in front of you. You just aren't willing to acknowledge the truth.
