Pa. College Professor Arrested at Schiavo Hospice
NEPA News and AP ^ | March 29, 2005 | AP

A professor at a Bible college near Scranton, Pa., was arrested Tuesday as he tried to storm into the hospice caring for Terri Schiavo.

Dow Pursley, 56, was zapped with a Taser stun gun and tackled to the ground by officers before he reached the door, Pinellas Park police said. He became the 47th protester arrested.

Pursley, who is on the faculty of the Baptist Bible College & Seminary in Clarks Summit, Pa., had two bottles of water with him, police said. He was charged with attempted burglary and resisting arrest.

Baptist Bible College officials said in a written statement that Pursley was not acting on the school's behalf and had traveled to Florida on his personal time.

"He is a dedicated man with strong beliefs and God-given convictions," the statement said.

Pursley is the clinical director of counseling programs for the theological college's graduate school. He also helps oversee a campus clinic that offers psychological counseling based on biblical teaching.

Baptist Bible College spokesman Mark Robbins said that while the college "believes in the sanctity of life," it has not taken an official position on the Schiavo case.

Doctors said that Schiavo, 41, would probably die within a week or two after the tube was removed on March 18. She suffered catastrophic brain damage in 1990 when her heart stopped for several minutes because of a chemical imbalance.

These officers are little else but armed thugs. They have no more excuse for their actions than anyone else participating in murder under the excuse of "I was just following orders."

Little Eichmanns?

OK, Jude, you're the law student here. Tell me exactly how attempting to bring two bottles of water to a thirsty dying woman is "attempted burglary"?

Use the IRAC method.

Thanks,

Marlowe

So why are you here and not in Florida?

Surely it couldn't be because something as insignificant as your jobs or your families are in the way.

Get thee to Florida!!!

"Or do you advocate lawlessness?"

What law, passed by the legislature, did Terri Schiavo violate Deacon?

there's a school of thought that a terrible injustice can blight the fate of nations. I wonder if it's true?

Little Eichmanns?

That seems to be the implication. I've got two sons who are cops, and this kind of hyperbole makes my blood boil!

If I lived anywhere near Florida, I'd be there. In a heartbeat. I have obligations that prevent my doing just as you suggest Deacon, to my regret.

I hope you call for the same massive civil disobedience in your homily Sunday though. Texas is a whale of a lot closer to Florida than the Pacific Northwest.

It is certainly easier to criticize and judge others from afar, or even from close up.

Would your sons act the way the Florida cops are? Would they actively assist in keeping food and water away from an innocent women? What would you tell them to do if they asked for filial direction?

I must admit that I am thoroughly and completely bamboozled
regarding Judge Greer's authority.

It appears that Greer is Probate Judge... which is to say, he has
authority to oversee the distribution of my late Gramma's china
and silverware, etc.

However... from where and how does he have the power and
uthority to prevent a poor dying woman from taking a sip of
water ???????????

Actually, it's joblessness, and lack of funds ONLY, keeping me from doing anything.

I wish a freeper from NY or CT was driving down, I'd hitch a ride.

So did his Lord,... Jesus Christ.

10) "Life-prolonging procedure" means any medical procedure, treatment, or intervention, including artificially provided sustenance and hydration, which sustains, restores, or supplants a spontaneous vital function. The term does not include the administration of medication or performance of medical procedure, when such medication or procedure is deemed necessary to provide comfort care or to alleviate pain.

I distrust almost everything the MSM tells us about Terri...in most cases it is based on a self-serving statement by Michael Schiavo. In any event, what matters is not her religion, but the fact that she is being killed on the orders of a judge, despite having committed no crime.

In the parable of the good Samaritan, the person being helped was not a Christian.

So how did that ever come to an order not even to lay a damp washcloth on Terri's lips?

Dear St.Chuck,

I can only say that they are following orders that have no objective standing as law, as the orders are intrinsically evil.

To enforce these orders, which are not actually statutory law, under the excuse that they were just following orders is to use an excuse that has already been rejected by civilized human beings.

But they did worse, still. These police officers actually told state troopers that they would resist the actions of the state troopers, under orders by the actual legal executive of the state of Florida.

These police chose to obey an illegal order by a two-bit probate judge rather than obey the legal orders emanating from the chief law enforcement officer of their state.

Unfortunately for their souls, they will not even be quite able to claim, "I was only following orders."

Jeb is the stupiest politician ever.
All the Democrat who runs against him has to say.
I would have sent the state troopers to save Terri and he or she will win.
Doesn't Jeb's political advisors know this.
