You are right.
Hellenism: Definition
Hellenism's greatest contribution lies in its accentuation of personality.
Women had an important dignity and status to fufill an ambition for professional or business careers, even far from the native town, in one of the metropolitan centers. By the side of great leaders or alone we see women who, through intrigue, crime, flirtation, and keenness of mind, gain immense political influence and power.
Religiously, Hellenism was marked by freedom and tolerance towards all persons and races.
Philosophy in Hellenistic Greece had lost much of its former originality and vigor: it was less creative reflection than evaluation; less thought than literature.
Interchange of populations resulted not only to the interchange of ideas and beliefs, but of habits and customs and manners, as well. Corruption, indolence, sensual life and idleness were exchanged for the old industrious and virtuous way of life. Marriage was devaluated, divorces were increased and almost every vice was unrestrained: immorality, pederasty, infanticide avarice, cruelty, suicide, indecency in public places, etc.
765.101 Definitions.--As used in this chapter:(12) "Persistent vegetative state" means a permanent and irreversible condition of unconsciousness in which there is:
(a) The absence of voluntary action or cognitive behavior of any kind.
(b) An inability to communicate or interact purposefully with the environment.
She was obviously conscious in that video. There was obvious voluntary action. She smiled and laughed, that requires a higher state of cognition. Smiling and laughing are considered communication when babies do it. She doesn't fit a single parameter of FLs legal definition of PVS, which by the way isn't brain dead either.
Yes, our energy could be better directed at someone that actually has hopes of recovery. There's no hope for you. You're in a PLS (persistant liberal state). Get lost, troll. Your hemlock society has a meeting tonight, I'd bet. Gotta get those talking points sharpened up.
Did it ever occur to the zealots out there that maybe he's doing all this because it really is what Terri wanted?
I don't know what you are asking regarding divorce. What I am saying he has a conflict of interest by having another woman and kids. Lets just say he may not be quite as devoted to Terri.
Also, maybe she did say that was what she wanted (to die) but why did it come out after he won the malpractice case? It just doesn't make sense why he would go to court for money for therapy and medical needs for the rest of her life (30 or 40 years). He wins big money and then he suddenly remembers that she wanted to die. The large amount of money was based on her life expectancy and necessary care. Doesn't that seem like he is trying to cheat the system? Add it up. It doesn't make sense.
What compounds the obscenity of this is that it's happening in America. And what exactly are we doing over in Iraq et al??
Perhaps the gentleman who signed up on 3-28-05 should ask if this lack of "progress" has anything to do with Michael Schiavo unceremoniously ending her rehabilitative therapy in 1992.
I just sent this fax to Gov. Bush. Now, be nice...no criticism of Bush allowed. This is not for battle. We must all refrain from being negative and hope he can still do something. I hope this helps:
March 28, 2005
The Honorable Jeb Bush, Governor Florida
Urgent: To Save Terri Schiavo
Dear Governor Bush:
Please consider this comment:
Could Terri be saved by a contest that she was psychologically imbalanced when she allegedly said she did not want to live on life support? Could this be challenged now to try to save her life?
Consider this:
Last night Geraldo Rivera on FOX News had a segment where he interviewed a woman who is a specialist who deals with bulimia. The reason was is that this is the condition that is being purported to be the cause of Terris heart stoppage. I offer these thoughts:
1. The original diagnosis for Terri's death was nutritional deficiency/bulimia.
2. Later Michael Schiavo won a lawsuit because the doctors mis-diagnosed her and did not recognize the bulimia problem.
3. Schiavo supporters and the media are continuing to offer this as the cause of her "collapse."
Ok...the question and a possible way to get her a new court hearing, and stop this starvation/dehydration:
1. Bulimia is, basically, a psychological disorder. Bulimics have a very poor self-image; they feel they need to be perfect; many are never cured because the psychosis is so deep. They often die from this psychosis and the eating disorder it causes.
2. In that state of psychologically connected obsession, how could anyone's comment, about such a serious issue as life support could be considered rational?
3. Most medical professionals agree that those afflicted with this disorder are not mentally healthy, often are depressed, irrational.
4. How can any legal system support the desires of a woman who was, evidently, psychologically unbalanced at the time of the "supposed" comment?
If they are going to insist this as the cause, couldnt it be insisted that the Court be forced to revisit this case, because the decision by Judge Greer did not consider her mental state?
God bless Terri. God bless you for your efforts.

Seriously, I think this is a good point. If she was in the throws of bulimia enough to get a heart attack then I would say her psychological status should be called into question.
This is so sad, that a statement that a naive 20 something year old may have said has come back to haunt her.
All the video I've seen depicts her responding to human interaction.
Do you have the video of her looking at the side of her bed and giggling and making noises in response to nothing and no one there?
She doesn't drool on herself. She swallows her saliva.
If her 'husband' doesn't want to deal with caring for her anymore, hand her over to mom & dad who are begging for the chance to care for their daughter.
Thanks gnan4d. I just hope and hope someone of some clout feels the same and takes some immediate action. I wish I had thought of this point earlier. I am but a simple person, but I cannot understand why others, with far more knowledge of bulimea never thought of this. Pray that it helps just enough to stop this horror. Just pray. OMG this is unbearably sad.
That Video should have been shown 2 weeks ago on Fox News!
11th Circuit Atlanta:WILSON, Circuit Judge, dissenting:
I strongly dissent from the majoritys decision to deny the request for an
injunction pursuant to the All Writs Act and the request for a preliminary
injunction. First, Plaintiffs have demonstrated their entitlement to a preliminary
injunction. Second, the denial of Plaintiffs request for an injunction frustrates
Congresss intent, which is to maintain the status quo by keeping Theresa Schiavo
alive until the federal courts have a new and adequate opportunity to consider the
constitutional issues raised by Plaintiffs. The entire purpose for the statute was to
give the federal courts an opportunity to consider the merits of Plaintiffs
constitutional claims with a fresh set of eyes. Denial of Plaintiffs petition cuts
sharply against that intent, which is evident to me from the language of the statute,
as well as the swift and unprecedented manner of its enactment. Theresa
Schiavos death, which is imminent, effectively ends the litigation without a fair
opportunity to fully consider the merits of Plaintiffs constitutional claims.
We should, at minimum, grant Plaintiffs All Writs Petition for emergency
injunctive relief. First, I note that there is no precedent that prohibits our granting
of this petition. Second, mindful of equitable principles, the extraordinary
circumstances presented by this appeal require that we grant the petition to
preserve federal jurisdiction and permit the opportunity to give Plaintiffs claims
the full and meaningful review they deserve.
In considering this extraordinary case, I am mindful that [t]he essence of

equity jurisdiction has been the power of the Chancellor to do equity and to mould
each decree to the necessities of the particular case. Flexibility rather than rigidity

instrument for nice adjustment and reconciliation between the public interest and
private needs as well as between competing private claims. Swann v. Charlotte-

those principles firmly in mind, mercy and practicality compel us to grant the

Yes, Norman. This is one of those instances when references are apropos rather than evidence that one has no real arguments. Jim Robinson created this place to help fight directions like this in our public life. We will lose Terri Schiavo, I fear, but we are still here. I'm going to find out what our state law is on this issue (I couldn't bring myself to do this yesterday. I needed yard work, brush clearing, bird watching, etc.)and see what fate may be out there for the inconvenient, and if something should be done.
Thank you. Keep me updated on what you find out.
