If this were true, then why do so many people gamble?
Because they believe in something called "luck" that will allow *them* to beat the inexorable randomness. Oddly enough, such people win/lose at the same rate as everyone else.
"luck" is the simple fool's "randomness" both are beliefs in effects without causes. If people thought a fix were in, nobody would play the lottery. Even though the fix would not reduce their probability of winning, it would just reduce their take.
