since this is such a shallow quake- the odds seem good this will produce a tsunami, yes?

Unknown. This quake was further south, so if a tsunami were to occur, it would most likely be directed toward the south, giving more danger to northern Australia and elsewhere in the Indian basin.

Interesting. I heard a geologist say this is likely a new break. Miles O'Brian just said no reports of tsunami activity at this time.
