Contrary to predictions that Terri Schiavo's starvation death would be painless and dignified, an eyewitness who visited her hospice room early Saturday morning reports that she is now bleeding from the eyes and mouth.
Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" reported Saturday morning:
"Barbara Weller, who's is one of the attorneys for the Schindlers, says that the last time she checked in, not very many hours ago, Terri's eyes and tongue were bleeding now.
"Her eyes are sunken and her skin continues to flake off," Weller added.
On Thursday Terri's parents reported that their daughter now resembles "an Auschwitz victim."
At the request of Michael Schiavo's attorney, Judge George Greer has banned cameras and video equipment from her room, precluding the possibility that a photographic record of her deteriorating condition might be kept.
The eyewitness accounts stand in stark contrast to predictions from medical experts cited in numerous media reports who insisted that Terri's starvation death would not be gruesome.
On Wednesday, for instance, the Los Angles Times reported:
"Doctors say that going without food and water in the last weeks of life is not traumatic, and that the body is equipped to adjust to such conditions."
The paper quoted Dr. Perry G. Fine, vice president of medical affairs at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in Arlington, Va.
He'd laugh delightedly.
You can bleed from the eyes if your insulin level is out of control. Mary Tyler Moore had the same condition once from her insulin level being out of control.
HELLO?! The statement says she is 'bleeding', not 'watering' or 'fluiding'. She does have blood in her.
Is this 'death with dignity'???????
The culture of death is in command at present.
my, how dignified, newyorktimes
Don't illegally enter this country, and you can have all the salsa and burritos you want, Jose.
Thank you. Read my post #222. I am a diabetic. I know that this can happen. This woman has been deprived of food and water that would make her insulin levels go crazy.
What happened to the painless peaceful death the doctors were talking about? (/sarcasm)
They lied. Nothing unusual. Their license should be revoked!
The Schindlers have petitioned the court (a.k.a., the Almighty Greer) to allow Terri a Catholic burial, as cremation is against her faith. He hasn't ruled yet, to my knowledge.
Michael asked for funds from Terri's rehabilitation account to have her body cremated and the ashes scattered in Pennsylvania, far, far from the family she loves. The court (a.k.a., the Almighty Greer) granted his petition and set aside $50,000 of Terri's money for that purpose (which makes you wonder why he's holding off on the Schindlers' request...he's already ruled in favor of Michael).
The State of Florida requires 48 hours after death before cremation. Again, Michael petitioned the court (a.k.a., the Almighty Greer) for permission to send her to the ovens immediately upon her death, which the court granted.
As the stench rises heavenward, I can't help but think the angels must be weeping (it's raining here today).
Look at the pictures one the other post and quit acting like a fool.
Ouch. Name calling.
I'm with you both on this.
I think all this emotion is understandable. Many people here have probably gone through a similar situation with either their parents or their grandparents. Plus, many of the anti-abortion people are zealous to begin with. I thought it was unwise from a strategic point of view for the Schiavo's attorney to approach this thing from a religous aspect, for more reasons than one. Maybe I should just back on out of this and not say anything. Emotions are high around here right now.
While I think the Schiavo's have been poorly represented, I DO think Terri is not PVS and this is homicide. Legal homicide. It makes me sick to my stomach. I've seen plenty of people in her condition. It's not pretty. Don't expect her to pass on until they start saying her kidneys are shutting down. Hopefully, they're giving her morphine so she won't suffer.
We need a "pro-life wacko" ping list, at minimum. I'm also one. :-)
Very nice that we have such atrophy of the coequality! If Jeb defies the court, they cannot enforce any sanction upon him. He is answerable to the legislature only. It would be so refreshing to see Jeb go that route. Maybe the rebellion against the judgeocracy would spread over the entire land!
The GHOULAGG.
Not even Greer himself has seen her, although he appointed himself guardian ad litem (in addition to serving simultaneously as impartial judge). When addressing the Schindlers' protest of him not having seen her, he retorted that amongst the list of requirements for a guardian vising his ward to maintain said ward's welfare, the occasion of the removal of nutrition and water was not on the list; therefore, he did not technically violate the law. The Swamp Judge really is a piece of work.
I would like to be able to say that only Judge Greer has stained the honor of the judiciary in ordering this torturous execution of an innocent woman, but frankly, the judiciary has as just as dishonorably upheld him. While he may be throwing black ink on the honor of the court system, it appears to already be a sullied cloth.
