You can disagree - but come up with an argument based on the law and a traditional conservative understaning of it. What I disagree with is the Federal intrusion more so than anything - I was pretty much avoiding this issue until the fiasco in Congress happened.

If I have to keep basjing conservatives over the head till they remember their principles like State's Rights then so be it.

So should "states rights" trump God's law?

I've seen the light: The oracle of True Conservative Principles is a FreeRepublic gadfly named after a G.I. Joe action figure.

their principles like not to kill the innocent should supercede the principle of state rights.Whatever that is.
I thaught that really the whole state vs federal rights was just a device used to protect the individuals in the states.
It would be crazy to sacrifice the individual to save the device.

You argue legalisms. No system without a moral foundation can last long. A body of law built to allow this barbarism is wrong and should be completely dismantled by a moral society.

There were bodies of laws created during the Third Reich and the Soviet Union. They were airtight laws regarding the treatment of some people AND THEY WERE WRONG because they were immoral. You should note those systems are now dismantled because they were founded upon immoral principles that could not be sustained.

You are no conservative if you forget that only individuals have rights. States don't have rights. They have powers.

Well...See Chapter 244 of Florida guardianship law. Judges cannot be surrogate decision makers for anyone other than a family member. Greer has served in that role while he was hearing the case. That's a violation of state law. Why is it not a violation in this case? This seems to be a violation of Terri's rights as a citizen of the state of Florida.
