Police 'Showdown' Averted ['Team of State Agents Were En Route to Seize Terri']
Miami Herald ^ | Sat, Mar. 26, 2005 | CAROL MARBIN MILLER

Posted on 03/25/2005 7:55:28 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

Hours after a judge ordered that Terri Schiavo was not to be removed from her hospice, a team of state agents were en route to seize her and have her feeding tube reinserted -- but they stopped short when local police told them they would enforce the judge's order, The Herald has learned.

Agents of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement told police in Pinellas Park, the small town where Schiavo lies at Hospice Woodside, on Thursday that they were on the way to take her to a hospital to resume her feeding.

For a brief period, local police, who have officers at the hospice to keep protesters out, prepared for what sources called ``a showdown.''

In the end, the squad from the FDLE and the Department of Children & Families backed down, apparently concerned about confronting local police outside the hospice.

''We told them that unless they had the judge with them when they came, they were not going to get in,'' said a source with the local police.

''The FDLE called to say they were en route to the scene,'' said an official with the city police who requested anonymity. ``When the sheriff's department and our department told them they could not enforce their order, they backed off.''

The incident, known only to a few and related to The Herald by three different sources involved in Thursday's events, underscores the intense emotion and murky legal terrain that the Schiavo case has created. It also shows that agencies answering directly to Gov. Jeb Bush had planned to use a wrinkle in Florida law that would have allowed them to legally get around the judge's order. The exception in the law allows public agencies to freeze a judge's order whenever an agency appeals it.

That has to be enough subject him to being dragged before whatever FL uses as a body to review conduct of judges.

You think that's bad...just start researching the links between Greer, Felos, Schivo and scientologists who are trying to take over clearwater. One note of caution...you may want to get a barf bag because it will maken you sick. After you establish those links, then look up Project Snow White. If you want some links, freepmail me.

I'm someone who's supported all the efforts of the R's to turn this around and am starting to feel my sympathies going toward those who wanted no Congressional action. I still have no problems with that action, but this crap with demanding stormtrooper/Clinton tactics, and calling those who DON'T want them Nazis, is a real siren call for the "They're not stormtroopers if they're being stormtroopers for OUR cause" wackos.

And it's because of people like you that politicians don't stick their necks out. They can't expect any form of loyalty to them and they know that people like you will turn on them in a minute.

I'm wondering if the congressfolk who subpoenaed Terri to a hearing in April will be issuing contempt of congress citations in the event Terri does not show due to her death.

I wouldn't be surprised if the goobermint sent contempt citations to Terri posthumously. Remember Mohammed Atta's visa renewal sent out six months after he slaughtered thousands with an airplane?

Add to that the fact that the retention span of the average congresscritter is about 15 minutes (20 mininutes with cue cards).

Why are we ALWAYS outmaneuvered?

Maybe because all we ever offer those on our side is criticism.

Agree. They would *not* have fired at one another. Way too much risk and potential liability. I could see a fistfight (heck, cops I know were getting into fistfights over overtime) but a shootout? Not a chance.

The cops are the betrayers of Christ. Don't anyone tell me it's their job. I know better.

Deal with it somehow. Sorry.

Yes. If we could turn our anger to action and unite to demand judiciary reform, starting with Bush's appointees, then there would be some hope. Eating our own just makes the libs salivate.

You just keep trotting out the Elian case...

Was Elian hours from death? Please elaborate on your ability to comprehend the difference between these two cases.

That is all I'm saying.......I have not even talked about my beliefs of the case on this thread, but the assault on the Bush's and the unlawful response that some would attempt....that is why I usually stay off the Terri threads cause any point made the remotely sounds like you want Terri dead inflames everyone when in fact, one is just looking at the facts and trying......trying very hard to keep the emotion in check

Is that so? I've been reading tons of constructive suggestions on this forum. I've heard them on the radio and seen them on the TV.

We are certainly not devoid of ideas. We are devoid of testicles.
