It's about having the state declare that you should die without any more proof that you wanted this than the hearsay of a person who has a conflict of interest.

It's worse than that; all someone needs is "custody" on paper. The blood relatives do not matter at all anymore. ANY judge can now declare what Greer has and the Exceutive branch of government cannot stop it. Food and water is now "life by artificial means."

My stake in all this is my youngest, who is Down Syndrome. After my wife and I are gone, can someone obtain "custody" over my other children, decide his "quality of life" and deny him food and water with the affirmation of a killer judge and starve him to death?

What is happening to Terri is a horrid development. Not only should the handicapped be concerned but the elderly as well. This could be how they plan on fixing Social Security.

Yes. I am 53. How far will this evil scheme have progressed in, say, 20 years? This is not just about Terri, its about all of us.

Spouse normally trumps parent in married adults, and parents normally don't have a lot of imput, unless the court removes the spouse from custody (and there would be HUGE outcries from a lot of people if MS had been a decent type who was trying to keep Terri alive, but her parents were suing to have his guardianship taken away so they could have her wishes followed, and those outcries would have been justified).

But you are very very right. I fear for all my friends who have handicapped children. What is going to happen to those children after they are gone? How are they going to guarantee a court doesn't find a way to have them "put out of their misery" by playing legal fictions?

This is one reason we have to fight to make sure the right to refuse treatment doesn't become the obligation to refuse treatment under the culture of death, and then the right of the medical/judicial community to choose who is fit to live, and all our vunerable brothers and sisters aren't grist for the death mill.

notdeadyet.com is a good place to go for more news and some info about this.

You bet they can! And if you happen to have surgery that requires rehab services, some shyster can have you declared incompetent, at least in the state of florida, probably many other places as well, have himself declared guardian and fleece you and your children out of everything with the consent and encouragement of the judiciary. Greer does this all the time, it isn't just Terri's case.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Have you noticed how the MSM always follows a Terri Schiavo story with a story about Social Security going broke?

I'm 53. My parents are 84. My family has many centenarians. Roosevelt was president when my great-grandmother died. When she was born, the president was Andrew Jackson. The genetic odds say I'm only half done. But now, I doubt I'll be allowed to live as long as any of them.

Listen up, boomers! Your life may now be nothing more than an entry on some accountant's spreadsheet.
