WHAT POLITICAL PRICE WILL REPUBLICANS PAY?
Neal Nuze ^ | 4/24/05 | Boortz

Posted on 03/24/2005 6:44:09 PM PST by NotchJohnson

was absolutely astounded yesterday when Florida Governor Jeb Bush held that press conference and talked about the State of Florida taking custody of Terri Schiavo. He presented to the media the opinion of a doctor that Terri Schiavo was not in a persistent vegetative state .. but rather just in some sort of a period of reduced consciousness. This doctor has never seen Terri Schiavo, except on videotape, and he's issuing findings that are completely at odds with doctors who have been personally examining Terri for many months.

Think about this for a moment. Attending physicians conduct their examinations and make their reports. The matter moves into the courts and is adjudicated ... adjudicated extensively. Nineteen state judges, one Federal District Court judge, one Court of Appeals, and three now four trips to the U.S. Supreme Court. Still, politicians aren't happy with the results ... so now the State contemplates using its police power to seize the body of Terri Schiavo so that she can be forced to endure this horrible existence for years to come.

Across America there are thousands of families who have faced similar situations and made their difficult decisions without political interference. There are tens of millions more who have expressed their wishes, both in writing and in words, that they never be kept alive in this manner. Now these people are watching this hideous spectacle of politicians plotting the literal kidnapping of Terri Schiavo. And why? To please a powerful political constituency .. the ant-abortion lobby.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that there are many people out there who, when faced with medical disaster, want to be turned over to politicians to be used as political pawns. I'm wondering if these people will be anxious to keep Republicans in power.

the GOP is getting a windfall for showing compassion for human life and NOT siding with those that would make Hilter proud.

Source? Back-up? Link?....In other words, I doubt it.

I've heard libertarians defend slavery in the old south. Boortz is a libertarian, right? I'm not surprised he doesn't have a lot of compassion for Terri or her family. --

Are you insane?

Libertarians DO NOT defend slavery.
And Boortz is from Pennsylvania.

The price Republicans shall pay will be spectacular.

There is NO chance of any Republican who didn't go to the mat for Terri being elected president in 2008.

The game is over. Republicans have been unmasked as democrats-light, unable to act on principle when the situation demands.

This is no joke. It is a watershed political change.

Republicans will probably lose the presidency in 2008. It serves them right. I speak as a new member of the SCHINDLER PARTY, founded to honor a victim of our "noble", enlightened", self-righteous, over-weaned, condescending and self-satisfied government, Terry Schindler.

Our job now is to drive all democrats (even hidden, republican-clad ones) out of office and power.

Jeb didn't do enough. I am truly disappointed in him forever

Welcome to FR. I must say your 4th post on this forum was not very good. Since most have never seen your name before I doubt anyone much cares about your disappointment.

It is heartening to see most Freepers are not blaming Republicans but the judges. I'm certain that this issue will play with the unconfirmed Bush nominees.

I heard even Lanny Davis was defending the efforts to save Terry. Lanny wouldn't do that unless the switchboards at Congress were lop sided FOR Terry. What do you suppose all these angry people will do when Dubya reminds them that conservative Pro-Life judges continue to wait for their vote? All of this energy can be focused against the rats. That's bad news for the rats.

Your wrong, those who support her murder are the ones that will pay a political price.

As more and more people learn of the fact that she IS NOT is a coma and she IS responsive to people around her & that her real family (mother, father, sisters) WANT to care for her. They will side with the GOP on this issue.

Hilter was for State mandated death of the disabled, and so are the Democrats. The lines are clearly drawn.

You Sir have told the truth in volumes. That 'process' is certainly what this is all about. The DNC knows it will pay dividends......kill the 'invalids and elderly', bingo! no Social Security crisis, no healthcare crisis, just to name two.

sources? I stated 'is getting' not 'has gotten' a windfall.

Watch, listen and learn.

Democrats wanting to kill your elderly mother or disabled sister is not going to win votes.........except in Nazi Germany, that is what people see. That is why the GOP will win on this issue.

Yep, I think a lot of that may be people feeling guilt about their electoral decisions or are so full of hate that even a person trying to do the right thing is the enemy.

ach, this whole affair is sickening.
We must surely be living in the last days.
The fall out for Republicans will be because they
didn't do enough.
As for the nasty neal boortz, I let the station know I quit listening while he's on. He even sounds like a serpent.
And I'm praying and know most of you are as well.

Good grief! It is the Democrat party that is the head of the Culture of Death religion. I know Pubs are timid, but let's get real here. I wouldn't trust my dog with any Democrat.

And I think most people are like you. In theory, nobody wants to be a vegetable. But, when you look at the case, you see that, if Lt. Columbo were investigating, he would never give Michael a moment's rest.

Wrong - I blame Jeb Bush and all the RINOs, including the pres., for doing nothing in the face of evil. Unconstitutional judges should not be allowed to edict thieir tyrannical opinions. This is an innocent women and we know the liberals are evil, but for Republicans to do nothing but talk shows the cowards that they are.

Opposing the Dreadscott decision took courage, fighting against Brittish tyranny took courage - both were agains the law and against majority opinion to do something at the time - but good men knew that some things were more important than following the "law" and we are all better for it today. This is one of those times.

...does anyone think this Schiavo case will have any resonance next year?

Sheeple have very short term memories. Most people have forgotten about 9/11, they certainly won't remember Terri Schiavo.

You are correct about the books, I was speaking more about the media and as far as not being re-elected Im not sure those incidents caused it.
