Schindlers' Options Dwindle to Hearing Tonight with Federal Judge (Motion DENIED)
AP ^ | March 24, 2005

Posted on 03/24/2005 4:45:17 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

A federal court hearing has started in one of the last effort attempts by Terri Schiavo's parents to restore their daughter's feeding tube.

But the judge already has turned down the parents once. Bob and Mary Schindler are asking for an emergency order to reinsert the feeding tube in the brain-damaged woman.

The hearing in Tampa is before U.S. District Judge James Whittemore. He turned the Schindlers down once, as did a federal appeals court and the Supreme Court. A state judge, a state appeals court and the Florida Supreme Court also have all come down on the side of the husband, who wants to let his wife die after 15 years in what some doctors call a vegetative state.

The latest defeat for the Schindlers was today when a state judge said he won't go along with Governor Jeb Bush's request to order the feeding tube reinserted. The governor had said that new allegations of abuse of Terri Schiavo need to be investigated. The governor also tried to challenged the diagnosis that Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state.

Negative - the report was that the SCOFLA rejected Jeb's request to stay Greer's order relating to the DCF taking possession of Terri.

You get that from the March 24, 2008 copy of the New York Times?

"without due process of law"

Yes, it is a states rights issue. There indeed was due process of law in Florida.

Allan is interviewing David Bois and Jay Sekulow now, somewhat interesting. Bois says a family has been ordered not to feed their child. Strange.

That's crap. What can they do to him? Find him in contempt of court? So what? The guy's a wimp.

Ok big talker (and how many times have I seen you arrested trying to bring her water? - Nuff said).

Pray that Jeb Bush follows God's Law

and not "man's law"

God has given Jeb the choice of free will.

It's up to Jeb.

He has his father and brother to call if he needs guidance.

Interesting information. Calling him a probate judge is picking only one of his juridictional duties, completely unrelated to the Schiavo case, as a label. His duties clearly include guardianship matters which are central to this case.

I'm not sure that's true, and the information posted doesn't support that conclusion. The information refers to a department, not an individual. It says teh department handles 10,000 cases a year, and I'm sure one judge cannot possibly do that.

So sorry that happened. Your story is helpful. I thought
it meant DNR. I never knew it meant starve to death.
I'll pass this info on to other folks.

Not sure if this has been asked before, and not really sure how to ask it. But why can't Florida invalidate the marrage? Can Gov Bush do anything at his level (ala Executive Order) that says the marrage is now faulty due to adultry on Schiavo's behalf? Wouldn't that relieve MS from being guardian at that point and return it back to Terri's family?

Just asking, I don't know anything about FL. law (hell, after all this, I realize I don't know the Law at all)..

"always remember when you pray it is "Thy" not "My" will be done."

Exactly!

I cannot remember exactly but from what I have read, this clause of the Lord's Prayer is so important.

I once read about a study that was done. They had three control groups who were focused on hospital patients.

The first group, I don't know, did nothing or just thought happy thoughts. Or maybe they checked Moby's website to see what to think. ;)

The second group actively prayed for a specific outcome.

And the third group prayed "Thy Will be done. May the best outcome for all concerned happen."

And the patients in the third group were healthier and recovered faster.

This is not to say that we cannot ask the Lord for something, but sometimes He has greater purposes than we can know or understand now.

I don't have tv here. What is going on...are we waiting for the Federal Court Decision to be made? I heard on the radio that they called in the nurse who treated Terri to testify in Federal Court. Has anyone else heard this?

"I got so mad at Colmes last night I turned that whole show off permanently! He is slime IMHO!"

I hear you, he turns my stomach, looks evil as well.

Trust in the Lord, his will not ours.

Prayers up for Terri.
