If Terri Schiavo were able, she would go to the nearest telephone, dial 9-1-1, and tell the operator that people are trying to kill her. Police officers would respond, and they would take whatever action was necessary, up to and including laying down their own lives, to ensure that no harm came to this innocent, defenseless woman. If the perpetrators were identified, they would be arrested and prosecuted, perhaps to receive very lengthy sentences in prison. She cannot make that phone call, of course, but those who love her have made it for her, crying out to any and all who might have the authority to stand in the path of what now appears inevitable: the very public starvation and death of Theresa Marie Schindler Schiavo.
How on earth can this be?
As I write

Not trying to start an argument, but what other way is there to interpret it? It seems to say that it would be okay to cause many innocents to die to prove how sacred life is. That just strikes me as bizarre.
Or did I miss the sarcasm in your first post?
That just strikes me as bizarre.I'm glad you see it the way I do.
You people are all losing it and comming apart at the seams. You need to take deep breaths and decide that you are going to work to change the laws of each state, and it has to be done at a state level, to make sure a person has to have a written living will before they can be deprived of life support and/or feeding tubes.
The whole situation could have been avoided if this simple law was in effect. At least one state has changed their laws already to this effect.
Florida didn't but I think they will next time around if people pressure them.
You want Terri's death to mean something? Then work to change the laws and save someones life in the future, this would be her legacy not the ranting and hair pulling that a lot of you are doing now. This wigging out serves no purpose and certainly doesn't help Terri.
And posts such as this one only serve to stir people up and keep the hatred, yes hatred, most of it uncalled for, going and building.
If you think Judge Greer is in the wrong and has broken laws call for an investigation, I believe there are petitions that are being circulated to that point already.
If you think MS is guilty of a crime try to get him punished but stop the ranting and the hate. Christ doesn't hate and neither should you.
really? Well then lets just hope we are all there to take the feeding tube out of your body when you are in a similar position against the wishes of those who love you. Oh, and lets not forget that you wont be in a position of being kept alive by machines. No you will be breathing on your own and responding to those around you. All during that we will gladly watch you shrivel up and die. Also, as a bigger joy, we wont have to wait for 15 years to do this. We will be able to do it right away in your case since the precedent has already been set.
If I were Jeb Bush I would start reviewing every case that Greer ever ruled on and issue pardons on every one I could. In fact I would begin pardoning anyone who any of these liberal judges found guilty of anything except murder. Since it has been said that the ability to pardon by the President or a Governor is unquestionable I doubt that even King Greer could do anything about it. Also, could not the President issue a federal arrest warrant for Terri on some trumped up charge? So what if it is later proved erroneous, at least it would get her into federal custody for awhile. I know we republicans are supposed to be above these kind of actions but as long as we are up against evil democrats who will do anything we are bound to lose unless we occasionally get down in the dirt with them.
Agreed. That would only pose a larger problem, and would do nothing but hurt the cause for sanctity of life. We cannot put the need to make a point over the lives of all those who will need to gain access to the emergency service lines. Doing such a thing would only make us no better than Michael, the court justices, and the convenience-death advocates.
On an after thought, the convenience that they seek to accommodate with the death of unwanted or burdensome people is primarily their own.
"Christ doesn't hate and neither should you."
Thats sweet, but I will always have hatred for people who seek to take advantage of those who cant defend themselves. Why shouldnt I? Is God going to come down from the heavens and save me from them? Never in all my time have I seen that nor shall I likely see it. God lets bad things happen all the time so what do I care if he hates or loves because if he/she/it exists ..sure doesnt care enough to do anything anymore good than the court justices presiding over this case.
If they truly loved me, they'd honor MY wishes, not their own. If my wishes go against the wishes of those who love me ... f%^# 'em. It's MY body.
"No you will be breathing on your own and responding to those around you."
Responding? Like Terri is "responding"? Fine, pull the plug on whatever is keeping me in that state.
I mean, this could be another standard -- you know, like when you say someone was "Borked" and everyone knows what you mean?
Now people can write into Living Wills, "A condition similar to that of Terri Schiavo", and everyone (excluding you) will know exactly what they mean -- brain dead, but not quite (ie., no cerebral cortex), no consciousness (not even when "awake"), no hope for recovery, feeling no pain, and being kept alive solely though some artificial means.
I was sickened by parents that brought subteen into a situation to have them cuffed and stuffed into a squad car.
