You may be right about this. I wish he could pardon her...ya know...like real criminals who are imprisoned can be pardoned...

You are WRONG!! What about the Emancipation Proclamation. That was an Executive Order.

True, and Lincoln knew that it had to be backed up by a constitutional amendment as quickly as possible, or it would eventually be tossed back at him as unconstitutional...

Yeah - didn't Lincoln assume essentially totalitarian powers during the Civil War? I'm not being sarcastic, either. He literally took over the Congress.
